Main duties of the job This is a mixed and exciting role where you will be delivering a range of routine and complex Respiratory and Sleep Physiology diagnostics and therapies at Medway Maritime Hospital and in two Community Diagnostic Centres.
You will have specialised knowledge and experience in Respiratory and Sleep Physiology, hold a BSc in Clinical Physiology/Healthcare Science or equivalent and be eligible for AHCS/RCCP registration.Our values are Bold, Every Person Counts, Sharing and Open and Together.

Job description Job responsibilities The post holder will provide specialist clinical physiology knowledge within respiratory and sleep and will ensure best principles of care are provided to patients at Medway Maritime Hospital and two new Community Diagnostic Centres.
The successful candidate must be able to work flexibly and the expectation is that they will be required to work day and night shifts depending on demand.
This will also include working across our multiple sites.
Additional training will be provided in each area as required.
Undertake and perform a range of basic to complex respiratory investigations, such as Full lung function testing (Spirometry, static lung volumes and gas transfer), Bronchodilator reversibility testing, FENO, 6 Minute walk test etc.
Including providing a full technical analysis and report of results for medical staff, contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of these patients.
To independently perform a range of routine, non-routine, and more complex sleep investigations, contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with sleep disorders including Overnight Oximetry, Actigraphy, Limited Polysomnograhy and Overnight Polysomnography Studies with MSLT as necessary.
Independent full interpretation and analysis is expexted (scoring).
To recommend patients on use of CPAP, set-up CPAP therapy and manage follow up consultations in patients with OSA and OHS.
This will be in the form of New Patient and Annual Review Clinics Monitor patients who are undergoing an overnight polysomnography study.
Ensure that the recordings produced during the study are of sufficient quality to be analysed accurately, and if necessary make adjustments to the equipment attached to the patient during the study.
Make judgements on the severity of results, ensuring medical staff are informed immediately of any life threatening or urgent investigation results.
Ensure that all the correct procedures for dealing with urgent and non-urgent results are adhered to.
Take responsibility for the cleaning of all sleep equipment and ensuring it is kept in working order, liaise with EME reporting and faults and problems promptly.
To assess investigation requests, checking there are no contraindications or risks, and to assess patients regarding their fitness to perform the tests.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential BSc Clinical Physiology or relevant science subject ARTP part 1 and part 2 and or A-Step Desirable RCCP and or RPSGT Knowledge Essential Full and detailed knowledge of Respiratory/Sleep Physiology Experience performing Lung Function Tests in the NHS Experience in performing diagnostic Sleep Tests ( Oximetry/limited polysomnography, actigraphy, full polysomnography )) or equivalent in the NHS Desirable Ability to interpret, analyse and report sleep studies (scoring) Skills Essential Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience Essential At least one year's experience as a Respiratory and Sleep Physiologist post qualification in the NHS
