Senior Psychologist

Job summary We are looking for clinical, counselling or forensic psychologist to join our citywide Personality and Complex Care (PACT) Team, where we work with young people, (age 14 to 25) who have difficulties regulating their emotions and may have an emerging diagnosis of Personality Disorder.
The team enhance their package of care to the CORE CAMHs Teams across the city (who work with age 0 to 25), when moving between urgent care or inpatient settings and the community.
We work with high levels of risk and distress, so it is important to help create thinking spaces in the system to enable the best care for the young people of Birmingham.We work as part of a multidisciplinary team and we value our professional identify and career progression opportunities that develop the 4 pillars of key skills, namely our therapeutic expertise, leadership, education of others and service development within the PACT Team and across Forward Thinking Birmingham.These skills are nurtured and developed from the moment you join the team, through training and supervision of individual work and service development projects.

Main duties of the job PACT provides trauma informed care to children and young people with complex and high-risk presentations.
It is an enhanced pathway, all our young people have co working teams within FTB including urgent care and we work closely with other agencies such Inpatient services, social care, and education.
We offer shorter term stabilisation work to young people with a focus on helping the young people to understand and problem solve using a trauma informed approach.
ICON offers bespoke and individualized care based upon formulation of need and the young person's individual goals.You will manage a small case load and co work with members of the team, offering supervision / line management to more junior psychology staff and maybe peer support workers.
You will be part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team who work together to support you; to support the young person using Trauma models and Trauma informed care to offer stabilisation skills using models such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy.We also offer some longer-term work to those with complex needs where appropriate, and consultation to other teams within FTB and developing in depth formulations is an important part of the work.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Qualified Clinical or Counselling Psychologist eligible for chartered status Skills in meeting the needs of children, adolescents and young adults with mental health needs Registration with appropriate body (eg HCPC, ACP, BACP, AFT) Post qualification training in specific psychological therapies and interventions with children, young people and young adults with mental health difficulties Desirable Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice Specialist Knowledge/Abilities/Job Experience Essential Knowledge and experience of working with children, adolescents and their families with mental health needs Experience of providing specialist psychological assessment and treatment for clients across the full range of mental health settings to include outpatient, community, day services and in-patient settings.
Experience of assessing and managing risky clients in the community.
Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan.
Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision.
Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical/counselling psychology.
Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS.
