Brief Description
As Senior Project Engineer (E&P) reporting to the Programme Engineering Manager, you'll have responsibility for leading the development and implementation of the E&P Southern Region Enhancement Development and Delivery. This role requires undertaking the duties of Designated Project Engineer on multi-discipline Railway Projects, managing design and/or construction activities for engineering activities on allocated projects.
About the role (External) Key Accountabilities Implement Network Rail systems and procedures to deliver a cost effective, high quality and safe approach to design, construction, commissioning and other technical activities on relevant projects.Monitor the competence of all Project Engineers working on projects within the functional discipline.Apply engineering controls and procedures to all projects.Apply relevant techniques and procedures of quantified and qualitative risk assessment and HAZOP analysis to all projects.Monitor all projects for compliance with Railway Group and Network Rail Company standards.Advise project and programme management in respect of all construction activities.Monitor the competency of contractors' design, construction and specialist personnel.Carry out the duties of designated project engineer (DPE).Undertake accident investigations when remitted.Undertake the project categorisation for engineering.Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications Essential:
Significant experience in engineering disciplines, ideally with involvement in construction and design projects across multi-discipline areas. Technical qualifications to at least HNC level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline. Membership of a relevant professional institution (ICE, IMechE, IET). Experience of contracting. Knowledge of safety management and quality assurance.
Desirable:
Six Sigma Yellow Belt. Chartered status or equivalent in the particular discipline. Appreciation of environmental issues in engineering works.
