The role As a Senior Process Design Engineer, you will perform all Process Engineering design work in support of winning and delivering large scale process-engineering themed projects for our key customers, ensuring that the business maintains its position as the world leader in the delivery of marine cargo handling and fuel gas systems for the transportation/storage of liquefied gas.
End customers include major worldwide shipyards and ship owners.
You will be also designing activities associated with marine and offshore liquefied gas plants, ensuring safe and economical design while striving for continuous improvement; and leading a team of Process Engineers on allocated projects demonstrating technical competence and ownership whilst being responsible for the relevant technical sign-offs and engineering governance.
Day-to-day, you'll be: Planning, coordinating and delegating of tasks to fellow Process Team Engineers and Graduates.
Developing PFD's, P&ID's etc with participation in design reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, SIL and LoPA studies.
Preparing calculations for process line sizing, control valve sizing, relief system capacities, process control and utility requirements.
Develop process heat/mass balance to size and select equipment.
Produce datasheets and specifications for equipment such as heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, control and safety relief valves.
Collaboratively working with Control and Instrumentation Engineers to define process control philosophy and plant logic requirements early in the design phase, ensuring continued parallel working throughout the project execution phase.
This role is full time 37.5hrs hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home is based at Rosyth.
Essential experience of the Senior Process Design Engineer Technical competence for the above responsibilities Previous experience in a Senior or Lead role Good working knowledge of Product and Process Safety systems; HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, SIL and LoPA.
Experience of leading studies such as HAZID and HAZOP is preferable.
Good working knowledge of Unisim and Microsoft Office is required.
Familiarity with software packages such as HTRI, Refprop and AFT Fathom would be an advantage.
Knowledge of API and manufacturer standards for sizing of relief valves would also be beneficial.
Good problem solving and analytical skills Qualifications for the Senior Process Design Engineer Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering.
Preferably chartered.
Significant relevant experience Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
