Joining Adult Social Care Mental Health Emergency Duty Service is a chance to change your world and others.
You will be supported by a team that cares for you just as much as it cares for our community.You will need to be a qualified Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP).In addition to the single salary grade, you will receive additional payments for all unsocial hours and bank holidays worked.
A market supplement for being a qualified AMHP, and a further payment per assessment.Experience we are looking for:Qualified AMHP, registered with Social Work England, and have experience working with adults and their families.
Recognition of systemic approaches.
Knowledge of safeguarding, criminal justice, housing, support for substance and domestic abuse.
Be a confident decision-maker.
Manage your workload independently.
Main duties of the job You will not have an ongoing caseload as the work involves short term emergency interventions.
Your working pattern will be made up of a combination of evenings, weekends, bank holidays and waking nights, across eleven shifts on average a month.The team is made up of experienced and skilled senior social workers who are confident working independently and comfortable making risk-based decisions.
We offer a comprehensive induction with ongoing support; this consists of regular team meetings and supervision from the teams Practice Manager.The role requires travelling around the county but there are opportunities to work from home, between call outs, if you live within East Sussex.Interviews will take place early February 2025 via Microsoft Teams.

Job description Job responsibilities Workclosely with partner and other agencies to safeguard and support the wellbeingof residents in East Sussex out of hours.Identifyand appropriately report children and adult safeguarding concerns, liaisingwith key agencies to gather information.
Workwith a range of legal interventions and departmental policies and procedures tosupport emergency interventions for adults and their carers/families.Maintaina high standard of report writing and record keeping.Undertakea lead role in the team to implement agreed local and national servicedevelopments, using good evidenced based practice, based on current research.
Undertakea lead role in the team to ensuring an efficient response to referrals for theDepartments services, coordinating assessments, risk assessments, caseplanning and review processes out of hours.Keepthe Practice Manager informed of departmental services challenges impacting onthe service out of hours.UndertakeAMHP duties out of hours.Completerelevant training in order to provide practice placements for AMHP students intraining.Providesupervision to any AMHP in the service as required by the Practice Manager, tomaintain an up to date knowledge of Mental Health Act case law to enablesupervision of others.
To take a lead in ensuring AMHP supervisees undertakeAMHP refresher training and attend relevant AMHP meetings.IndependentlyCommission appropriate services in an emergency to meet unmet care needs out ofhours.Provideadvice and support to Health and Social Care Connect call handlers as required.Makeon-call Operations Manager aware of any significant events requiring moresenior management oversight.
Person Specification Experience Essential Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate legal and policy frameworks, case law and the application to social work practice.
Seek appropriate legal advice and apply legal reasoning, using professional expertise.
Understand different forms of harm and their impact on people, and the implications for practice, drawing on concepts of attachment, loss, strength, vulnerability, risk and resistance.
Understanding of Safeguarding Adults at Risk in front-line services.
Evidence of understanding strengths-based assessments.
Experience of working directly with adults in a statutory setting, using a partnership approach.
Ability to communicate with adults where there is complexity, including domestic violence, substance misuse, mental health or sexual harm.
Able to demonstrate accountability and effective judgement when anticipating, identifying, assessing and managing risk, seeking support and solutions where appropriate.
Demonstrate and apply to practice a working knowledge of human growth and development throughout the life span recognising the impact of relationships, psychological, socio-economic, environmental and physiological factors on peoples lives, taking into account age and development, and how this informs practice.
Demonstrate personal and professional resilience showing confidence about your role in the team, work positively with others and contribute to team working by developing a learning environment for self, teams and colleagues.
Awareness of changing contexts at local, national and organisational level and the implications for practice.
Able to demonstrate awareness of own professional limitations, personal values and knowledge gaps, to critically reflect on the influence and impact on professional practice and engage in regular supervision to improve practice and career development.
Able to promote and provide guidance and challenge on positive approaches to diversity in the organisation, the principles of social justice, social inclusion and equality decision making.
Ability to converse at ease with customer and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
Qualifications Essential Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) or willing to be re-warranted where approval has lapsed in the last 2 years.
Social work or Occupational Therapy qualifications and registered with the relevant professional regulatory body
