Job summary We have an opportunity for a skilled, enthusiastic clinician who enjoys working with children in an integrated multidisciplinary team.
As a band 6 Paediatric rotational physiotherapist you will gain experience in various specialist areas including acute respiratory, neurology, neurosurgery, neuromuscular, neonatology, oncology, orthopaedics, musculoskeletal, cystic fibrosis, primary ciliary dyskinesia, surgery, nephrology and hepatology.
The post holder will work along side the band 7 team providing a service to the above areas and helping develop the physiotherapy service across the trust.
Children may be managed on the wards, intensive care units, neonatal units, specialist clinics, in the out patient department and in the community.
The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team including medical staff, nursing staff, occupational therapists, speech therapists, play therapists, dieticians and psychologists.
They will also be encouraged to liaise with other agencies that support children and their families.
The Childrens Physiotherapy Team is committed to the concepts of clinical governance and staff development through appraisal, training, research and audit.

The post holder will contribute to the Paediatric Oncall service Main duties of the job Assessment and treatment of children as inpatients , outpatients in hospital and at home and school You will have the opportunity to work with the Multidisciplinary team and collaborate with other hospitals around the region and across the country.

They have a wide scope of experience and enjoy developing and teaching new members of the team.
The team is based on the Leeds General Infirmary site but also covers the Neonatal Unit at St James Hospital.
Transport is available to move between sites for staff.

Job description Job responsibilities JOB PURPOSE To perform physiotherapeutic assessment of paediatric patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.
He/She will participate in the Band 6 paediatric rotational scheme which involves working across a range of settings.
To be responsible for their own continuing professional and personal development.
To participate in the Paediatric Out of Hours service JOB DIMENSIONS To hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision.
Access to advice and support from a senior physiotherapists is available if required, clinical work is not routinely evaluated.
To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner within this specialist field.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent Health Professions Council Registration Desirable Member of CSP Skills & Behaviours Essential Knowledge and experience in a range of approaches to the management of patients in this area of practice Professional, hard working and flexible with a positive attitude Confident and able to take appropriate responsibilities Caring and compassionate Use transferable skills to ensure effective patient care Contribute to effective team working including prioritisation, organisation of self and others and delegation of work load Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills Participate in clinical education of less experienced staff/students Ability to cope working in a stressful environment including the ability to impart information, on a daily basis regarding poor prognosis for rehabilitation.
Able to deal with emotional or aggressive patients and carers.
Ability to demonstrate an attention to detail.
Desirable Involvement in APCP Ability to participate in the organisation of internal external clinical courses Competent basic IT skills Involvement in audit and an understanding of research and quality issues Good presentation skills using various media Other Criteria Essential Reliable work record Moving and handling patients and equipment is a requirement of this post Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post (with reasonable adjustments if necessary), including clearance on blood borne viruses in compliance with Trust Policy Experience Essential Substantial post graduate clinical experience including relevant core areas of respiratory medicine, neurology, musculoskeletal in and outpatients with at least one rotation in paediatrics Desirable Experience in paediatric respiratory care.
