Are you looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to develop your existing clinical skills and expand your knowledge?If so, we are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Pharmacy Technician to work in our state-of-the-art Urgent and Emergency Department and undertake Medicines Administration.
This is a dedicated role at the forefront of emergency medicine where you will learn how to administer a range of medicines to a diverse cohort of patients.The exciting role focuses on the administration of medicines following the successful completion of the medicines administration competencies.
The role also includes undertaking medicines reconciliations, assessing patients' suitability for self-administration, patient counselling and physical health monitoring.We are a friendly, supportive and enthusiastic team who are passionate about our service and dedicated to ensuring medicines safety is at the heart of patient care.
This team includes other Medicines Administration Pharmacy Technicians, who are fully established in their roles.This is a fixed term (18months) vacancy.

We are looking for someone with a desire to work closely with patients and to play a central role in the safe and effective use of medicines in the Emergency department.The successful candidate will be provided with comprehensive training to enable them to succeed in, and to develop the role, including skills relating to medicines administration and physical health monitoring.You will need to have excellent communication skills and be confident in interacting with a diverse range of people and staff groups in a variety of settings.

Our vision is to be an outstanding provider of sustainable healthcare services, delivering the best possible care to our patients and being a great place to work for our people Job description Job responsibilities KEY RESULT AREAS Carry out medicines administration to selected patent in accordance with prescription requirementsTo undertake competency based training in the preparation and administration of medicinesTo be competent in the administration of prescribed medicines to allocated inpatients against an inpatient prescription following the Trusts Medicines Management policyTo undertake a range of checks on the preparation and administration of medicines including injectables, and Controlled Drugs in accordance with the Medicines Management policyTo accurately record the administration of medicines on the inpatient prescription and promote the safe and timely administration of medicines.Offer information and advice to patients when administering medicines.To report any Adverse Drug Reaction(s) to a senior nurse or medical staffSupport patients wishing to self-administer their own medicinesTo contribute to handover of patient related information to medical and nursing teamsTo work with nursing and medical staff to improve the quality of care provided to inpatientsTo identify and resolve, by referring to the prescriber, pharmacist or patients notes where necessary, problems and errors in prescribing of a technical natureTo work with ward and dispensary based pharmacy teams to improve the quality and efficiency of medicines management to hospital inpatients, ensuring compliance with national standards ( CQC, RPSGB)To dispense medicines in accordance with professional, legal and ethical standards and in agreement with departmental performance standardsTo provide a source of advice and expertise on matters relating to the provision of medicines and medicines information at discharge.To collect data relating to the activity of the post, undertake audits work and assessment of patient experienceTo use the electronic prescribing and medicines administration system (EPMA), ensuring that patient data is updated in a timely manner.
To provide necessary training for medical and nursing staff, with regular updates if changes are madeTo support ward / department nursing staff in meeting the required standards for the Safe and Secure handling of medicines, including participation in Audit initiatives Person Specification qualification Essential qualified pharmacy technician Level 3 NVQ pharmacy or equivalent Experience Essential Experience of direct patient contact Desirable Working with clinical staff and provision of information and advice Experience of direct management / supervision of other staff Experience of work at ward level skills Essential Knowledge of modern medicines management philosophy and how this affects the technician role Ability to work alone and as part of a team Time management skills Confident communicator Aware of CPD Desirable Clear ideas on how their practice can improve patient care Evidence of CPD personal attributes Essential Professional appearance Mature Outlook Able to work independently Able to work under stress Assertive care values Essential demonstrates proud to care values
