Job summary We are looking for a dynamic, experienced and motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist who wants to champion on Recovery focussed, client centred and least restrictive practice in our adult acute mental health inpatient services at Hellesdon Hospital.
The suitable candidate will deliver clinically effective pathways of treatment and intervention including individual and groupwork.
The role will be based on our female ward.
Please be aware that you be recruited to the acute wards, therefore in the future may be asked to work on a different male or female ward.
You will be part of a Therapy team that draws on a number of models including the Model of Human Occupation.
The aim is to maintain, restore or create a match between the abilities of the person, the demands of their activities and occupations, and the demands of the environment in order to improve function, promote independence and enhance opportunities for meaningful participation in daily life, whilst working alongside and cooperatively with a skilled MDT.
Main duties of the job You will be an advocate for the life changing effects of enabling meaningful occupation.
This post will include providing support, knowledge and advice to inpatient teams, community team members, and relatives/carers who have identified a service user's needs.
The units benefit from a full MDT including Psychologists, Social Workers and Peer Support Workers, who seek to offer evidence-based interventions to enhance recovery, reduce the length of admission, and enhance the person's mental health.
The team greatly values the unique perspective and contribution of Occupational Therapists, and you will be given opportunity and support to champion this role.
We will work together to ensure the care is not only outstanding but that the team is well developed and supported.Supervision, professional development and staff welfare are important to the service and time and support will be available to engage in all these important roles.
Our post holder would be able to attend any meetings and training in order to strengthen their understanding of Occupational Therapy and to maintain their evidence-based practice and CPD hours.
A variety of CPD opportunities can be explored depending on your career pathway.
The wider trust has a range of AHP networks which will support you in developing your Occupational Therapy skills, for example training in assessment tools and taking part in workstreams to further enhance AHP services.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Diploma / Degree in OT HPC state registration Desirable Relevant post graduate training courses Experience Essential Post registration experience in mental health.
