Job summary We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Disabled Childrens Team, on a full-time basis.
Main duties of the job This rewarding role will see you working within a small Occupational Therapy team providing advice and support for children, young people and families in the Bath and North East Somerset area.
We work closely with our colleagues across the service and have established partnerships with agencies across health, education, support services and adult services to ensure we can respond as effectively as possible to the needs of children and young people.
We work with children with complex needs between the age of 0-18 predominantly at home.
We support disabled children and their families to live safely and independently in their own home.
Our team is based at Civic Centre in Keynsham, within the Children and Young People Service and we are looking for an enthusiastic worker to join our team.
You will experience a culture of mutual support amongst team members and receive formal supervision on a regular basis and appropriate training.
The role will involve the following: Assessing children and young peoples needs under the Children and Families ActAssessing and making minor and major adaptation requests to enable access to essential facilities and to ensure a safe home environmentProviding equipment and moving and handling advice and support About You: You will need to be committed to using a wide range of skills to promote and safeguard the welfare and development of children and assist their carers in creative and innovative ways.

You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist with current HCPC registration.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent professional qualification ( Dip COT).
Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
Desirable Experience of assessing needs, arranging social care services, and advising and facilitating equipment use.
Experience of managing a complex and contentious caseload.
Experience Essential Experience of providing training/mentoring to other practitioners or professionals.
Advanced knowledge of the Assistive Technology equipment and its application.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, local policy and procedures, national codes, and multi-disciplinary practice.
Desirable Ability to communicate clearly and assertively (when appropriate) to provide professional advice, encouragement, and support to service users and colleagues.
Ability to work in partnership with a range of professionals and agencies.
Ability to work autonomously, prioritising own work and managing own time effectively.
