Senior / Principal Modelling Engineer Permanent Full Time Site Based: Porton Down, Salisbury Our Electronic Warfare Operations Support (EWOS) Group is made up of 60+ electronic warfare specialists.
From all manner of backgrounds, our engineers, scientists and ex-military personnel combine their experience to help our customers achieve their true operational potential, and ultimately help keep their people and platforms safe.
You'll have the flexibility, once fully embedded (and with DV) to figure out your own schedule, making sure core hours are covered by you and your team.
There is a bias towards working onsite - due to the nature of the work - but there will beoccasions where this can also be flexed.
How youll support us Working primarily on-site with the wider project team, you will be creating leading edge solutions to problems never worked on before; offering your data analytical and modelling expertise to be used in the subject of Electro Optics (EO) and their effect on the modelling of weapons systems - a project that is using groundbreaking science to support the UK's front-line Defence.
The invaluable experience youll bring, to help us achieve more: Were expecting that youve got hands-on experience in this field.
Essential Knowledge: Degree level or equivalent in a Science or Engineering discipline (e.g.
Mathematics, Physics or Software Engineering).
Hands-on experience, either through an advanced degree or working in industry, of any of the following: Verification, validation and test of systems or synthetic environments.
Experience in usingSimulink.
Track record of independently generating technical plans and effectively communicating your work via reports/presentations.
Desirable Knowledge: EO domain knowledge and/or EO modelling experience (e.g.
EO environments, EO Threat system understanding, EO countermeasure development).
Experience in using MATLAB Experience in software engineering.
Experience using C++.
Ability to learn quickly extant programming languages.
Good understanding of the physics behind sensors, dynamics, optics and lasers.
Electro-Optic sensor systems, image processing or missile systems.
Developing or using synthetic models of sensors, image processing techniques or air vehicle dynamics.
Our non-negotiables: Candidates will need to be sole UK Nationals, eligible to work and live in the UK and to undergo and maintain appropriate UK government DV Security Clearance.
Full UK Driving Licence.

What we can offer: Salary £40,000-70,000 - Dependant on experience.
