The Role This role will give you an opportunity to develop your skills across varied projects that support the charitable aims and the rare disease community.
Independently develop content with minimal review and direction including (but not limited to): Literature searches and systematic reviews, a bstracts and posters for conferences, m anuscripts for peer-reviewed journalism, t reatment guidelines, e xecutive summaries, r esearch reports, s lide decks, p atient facing materials, s ubmission of materials to journals and conferences Skillfully interpret quantitative and qualitative data (usually from surveys, focus groups and interviews) Turn the data into impactful, well-structured narrative for publication Maintain familiarity with current industry practices and regulatory requirements that govern medical writing (e.g.
GPP and ICMJE guidelines, ABPI Code of Practice).
Effective planning and management of timelines on own projects.
Serve as the medical writing representative on assigned project teams, providing proactive support to project leadership for planning efficient work plans and timelines.
Promote excellent standards, working to the highest levels of quality and accuracy and supporting other team members by reviewing, editing for consistency, flow and proofreading their work, offering constructive feedback as appropriate to support the development of junior team members.
Identify and manage freelancers including briefing, review and quality control of materials they produce.
Participate in/ lead regular update meetings with clients.
Liaise with clients and their publication review team as appropriate.
Communicate effectively and professionally with external authors.
The Person The successful candidate will have the following essential requirements: Eligibility to work in the UK Higher degree or equivalent in life sciences Demonstrable medical writing experience in a commercial environment, able to manage a variety of projects simultaneously Hands-on experience and proven skills in performing literature searches, data interpretation and medical writing appropriate for the audience Strong attention to detail and experience in reviewing the medical writing of others Extensive knowledge of medical research and literature sources and search methods Excellent IT skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, referencing software Strong organisation, documentation, and communication skills with the ability to multitask Flexibility and ability to adjust to changing demands and priorities Proven ability to build professional external partnerships through their work Superior communication skills, both verbal and written Tact, discretion and respect for confidentiality The successful candidate will require an enhanced DBS check during recruitment and this will be reviewed on a regular basis.
The Terms Salary - c£45k FTE* (Dependent on Experience) Minimum 21 hours per week up to full time (35 hours).
Hours may be worked as full days or spread across the week.
Tuesday and Thursday are core days.
Open to hybrid working, ideally, there will be regular presence int he office (Thursdays are core days, and Tuesdays are helpful), but for the right person who is able to self-direct, this could be once per month in the office.
25 days holidays, plus Bank Holidays.
This increase after 5 years service by 1 day per year, up to a maximum of 30 days.
