We are working with a manufacturing business seeking a Manufacturing Engineer.
The successful manufacturing engineer will be reporting to the Technical Director.
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for creating and delivering advanced manufacturing solutions for products & processes in line with the companys manufacturing strategy.
This applies to both new and existing products, as per the ME Departmental Objectives, helping to achieve repeatable processes that are profitable and at the required rate.
The role will be both Customer & Internally Facing.
The ME will have a collaborative approach to team working and problem solving, applying a Design for Manufacture philosophy, DOE techniques and carrying out Design Reviews, in order to develop and improve production processes.
The ME will enhance the companys performance and presence by providing innovative and challenging solutions which contribute to helping deliver 100% RFT, in full and on time.
A can do, and will do, attitude is essential.
Main Responsibilities: Work within the NPI, Process Development and CI framework for both existing and new products.
Carry out Effective 8D Problem Solving.
Carry out Corrective Action Effectiveness.
Utilise and implement best practice for each work package and build quality (in process verification) into each process.
Provide project plans, programs, fixture design and process instructions which can be used to create a conforming part, repeatedly, within agreed timescales, to an agreed cost and at an agreed rate.
Ensure the MRP / ERP Engineering system and data is accurate and up to date Create manufacturing processes working from 3D models and 2D engineering drawings Fixture & Tooling Design CADCAM Autodesk Inventor & Powermill and other related software as appropriate Management & control of manufacturing documentation Machine Prove Out Trouble Shooting delivering capable processes Continuous Improvement Work with the wider team to incorporate best practice and lessons learnt to existing and future work packages.
Carry out Measurement System Analysis and ensure measurement processes are capable and repeatable (e.g.
using Gauge R&R), as well as effective and efficient.
Working with Shop Floor Supervision, Personnel, and Service Departments to ensure processes carried out to the required quality, cost, & delivery levels.
Host and accommodate external Third Party and Customer Technical Visits and implement any actions that maybe required as a result.
To keep abreast of new tooling and manufacturing concepts and undertake training, where necessary, to increase skills and knowledge.
Any other duties which, from time to time, shall be reasonably required.
The ideal manufacturing engineer will have the following experience / skills: A strong CNC background (knowledge of NC Programming would be ideal but not essential) Understands industrial engineering, cycle time reduction, production optimisation Aerospace and defence industry experience Solid understanding of 8D, FMEA, SPC, etc Experienced in leading CAPEX projects Interested?
