The PositionThe Opportunity At Roche, our Clinical Development organisation focuses on late-stage (Phase II – III) clinical strategies, to deliver innovative therapies that provide significant improvements to patient care. As the Senior Clinical Director/Lead Clinical Director, you will lead or make significant contributions to the creation and execution of the Clinical Development (CD) plans for therapies in our exciting and growing Ophthalmology pipeline. You will be pivotal in driving strategy, overseeing clinical trials, and ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes. This position may involve leading teams and potentially managing direct reports to foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute the Clinical Development Plan (CDP) for your designated projects.Lead clinical trials from design to completion, ensuring adherence to all required clinical guidelines and regulations.Act as medical monitor for assigned studies or delegate this responsibility appropriately.Represent the Clinical Science Team in cross-functional interactions, ensuring alignment across teams, and cohesive clinical strategies.Provide clinical leadership in regulatory engagements and contribute to key regulatory submissions and documentation.Lead data-driven decision-making to establish product safety and efficacy profiles.Develop and deliver key presentations internally or externally, including at investigator meetings, advisory boards and major medical congresses, and contribute to clinical trial publications.Facilitate the handover of new drugs/indications to Medical Affairs.Who You Are Essential: MD/MBBS, with Board Certification in Ophthalmology.Significant experience designing and conducting clinical trials, or a recognised expert in the field.Strong understanding of data analysis, interpretation and clinical relevance.Preferred: Proven experience as a clinical development leader with analytical and innovative problem-solving skills.Experience in late-stage clinical development within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.Experience authoring global clinical development plans and engaging with regulatory bodies.Experience publishing results of clinical trials in peer-reviewed journals.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively collaborating with and influencing stakeholders.Skills & Behaviours: High ethical standards and exceptional attention to detail.Proficient in project management, decision-making, and negotiation.Strong business and financial acumen for effective planning and resource allocation.Demonstrated mentoring skills and a commitment to developing high-performing teams.Willingness to travel up to 30% globally.Join Roche to lead impactful clinical programmes and shape the future of healthcare in Ophthalmology.
