DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Strategy, Policy & Insight (Function) are trusted thought-leaders bringing expert strategy, policy, market & audience insight – challenging and advising the business to drive delivery of Channel 4's strategy and remit.

The new centralised Audience Insights (Subfunction) purpose is to be independent thought leaders at the heart of Channel 4's creative and commercial decision-making, bringing a single source of truth and big picture perspective, challenging and advising the business to ensure profitable business growth through the use of data.

JOB PURPOSE
Working under the direction of an Analytics Lead, this role directs a large team (of around 7-9) Insight Analysts to source and prepare high-value analysis based on relevant data, innovative market, content, viewer or commercial analysis & insight for C-Suite and Senior Leader stakeholders to enable them to make profitable business decisions for C4.

The team will be focussed on Viewing and Marketing data.
While specialists in their analytical area of expertise, they will be expected to understand all areas of the business (Marketing, Content, Commercial & Product) to ensure any work done can have cross-pillar benefits.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Negotiating an agreed portfolio of insight deliverables with the Insight BPs from across all 4 business pillars, this role allocates and oversees the Insight Analysts workstack to provide the best quality data analysis and insight to inform business decisions made by C-Suite Exec and Senior Leaders in C4.
The team of Insight Analysts provide value-add insight by sourcing and pulling down in-house data, modelling and/or forecasting on this data, then packaging the data and drafting (for more complex data) a value-add summary insight.
The Insight Manager will finalise and add recommendations, providing it to the Insight BP in a format for onward communication to the respective business leader which the C-Suite Exec or Senior Leader can use for a decision.
Responsible for overseeing quality assurance of the data and insight provided to ensure robust and accurate information is given to the Exec and Senior Leader decision-makers.
The interpretation and translation of data relevant to the decision into insight outputs, breaking down complexity through storytelling to ensure easy understanding by the business stakeholder and easy business application to the decisions required.
Calling out failure of C4 to meet the required growth targets and bringing insight which drive Senior Leader decisions to unblock barriers.
The role will have a deep specialism in the key disciplines - Viewing and Marketing Analytics.
They will work collaboratively with other Specialist Insight Managers and with the BP team to draw in other complementary skills and provide robust audience insight.
Together with the Business Partner & the Reporting & Data Analytics Team, the role is responsible for driving the self-service capability (building the proof of concept for the Reporting team to automate for wider C4 self-serve access) to reduce repetitive analysis, cost and improve stakeholder real-time access.
Recommending to the Analytics Lead, the innovation of new approaches to insight based on new to market and industry perspectives, data sets, analysis methods or modelling tools.
Contributing ideas, options & solutions to the Analytics Lead and Head of Audience Insight to evolve the insight function's impact, value & capability.
Lead and develop the team, coaching for excellence and growing the team skills & capabilities.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS / STAKEHOLDERS Analytics Lead for direction and Insight BP's for business requirements and explanation of analysis outcomes.
Co-presentation to leaders alongside BP.
The role will be responsible for a large team of Insight Analysts.
No direct financial accountability.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Experience of analytics leadership including multiple & mixed data sets Experience in managing a large team of analysts, with varying skill sets and needs Good understanding of digital marketing, the broader marketing landscape and trends, emerging technologies and best practises in data-driven marketing (to include experience of marketing attribution models) Strong business understanding including role of analytics in driving leader decisions The ability to coach for analysing data, breaking down complex or loose questions into creative and logical analyses within relatively short timeframes Good understanding of big data and the ability to manipulate and get meaningful stories from long datasets (often billions of rows) as efficiently as possible Advanced capability to write in SQL on complex datasets and conduct data modelling & forecasting Good capability of TechEdge (analysis tool for industry wide viewer data), Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics, MS Office especially Excel & Powerpoint Storytelling –the ability to translate complex data to clear messages and bring well considered, valued recommendations to drive profitable decision-making Collaboration skills – proactive ability to build a collaborative environment within the insights function and across the business to drive the best possible outcome Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities, manage timescales and delivery across the team often under pressure Ability to engage effectively with Insight BP's when presenting back on findings – specifically personal confidence, capability to challenge, debate, advise and recommend solutions Hybrid working
From September 2023, C4 has operated a 60/40 working pattern, equating to three office days per week.
Having everyone in the office three days a week gives us more opportunity to build our high performing, inclusive culture; to collaborate and to learn and share with each other, as well as helping to coordinate a regular pattern of home and office working days.
All our offices are open five days a week.

Salary: Basic salary starting at £84,000 dependant on experience
