Job summary Templer Ward is a 30 bedded in patient ward within Newton Abbot community Hospital.
20 beds provide care to specialist stroke and neuro rehabilitation patients following treatment in an acute hospital setting.
The other 10 beds are for patients requiring general medical care and rehabilitation.Joining our team on a permanent full time contract, you will be working within a proactive multidisciplinary team to encourage patients to reach the maximum rehabilitation potential to enable safe discharge from hospital.Our people are caring, committed, inclusive and focussed on quality.

We will support and encourage you to develop your new and existing skills within the role.If you share our values and vision and are passionate about working with people on what matters to them, you could be a real asset to our Torbay and South Devon Team.#CareToJoinUsTSD Main duties of the job We are looking for a caring and compassionate person who is able to work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a high standard of individualised nursing care to our patients.You will need excellent communication skills, and be able to work independently, prioritising your workload to ensure the best outcomes for patients.You will ensure that your own actions support the care, protection and well-being of individuals, and ensure their privacy and dignity at all times.You will need to be flexible as this is a rotational post which includes days, nights and weekend working.

*PLEASE NOTE: This post is not eligible for sponsorship Person Specification Qualifications Essential NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent Desirable Care certificate English & Mathematics at GSCE grade A-C (9-4) or level 2 functional skills Knowledge and experience Essential Previous experience in a care environment or able to demonstrate a caring nature/ life experience Understands the need for strict confidentiality Desirable Working knowledge of complex care needs of some individuals/families including Safeguarding Children & Adults, Domestic Abuse and Mental Health Specific Skills Essential Basic computer/keyboard skills Fine motor skills - for venepuncture, phlebotomy and other clinical tasks Good interpersonal and communication skills Able to prioritise and organise work Able to work under instruction, under pressure and as part of a team Record keeping competency in handwritten and electronic records Able to demonstrate empathy, sensitivity, and to adapt communication style to circumstances Able to manage stress in themselves and others Able to offer support at times of emotional distress Willingness to undertake new skills and training Able to work as a team member or independently Ability to adapt behaviour to changing and challenging situations To be flexible, adaptable, reliable and punctual The post holder must demonstrate a positive commitment to uphold diversity and equality policies approved by the Trust Desirable Healthcare competencies appropriate to area of work
