Senior Environmental Health Officer

Job description We are currently recruiting on behalf of a respected public sector client for a highly motivated Senior Environmental Health Officer.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the community, working on key environmental health issues that impact public safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage investigations into environmental health complaints, including noise pollution, air quality, and waste management.
Carry out inspections of commercial and residential premises to ensure compliance with public health and environmental legislation.
Provide expert advice and guidance on environmental health matters, supporting both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Lead on food safety and hygiene inspections in businesses, ensuring they meet health standards and regulations.
Participate in legal proceedings, including preparing reports and attending court where necessary.
Mentor and support junior staff, contributing to their professional development and knowledge.
Essential Requirements: Degree or diploma in Environmental Health (or equivalent).
Demonstrable experience in environmental health enforcement and a thorough understanding of relevant legislation.
Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring junior officers.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with the public, businesses, and multidisciplinary teams.
Proven ability to handle a high caseload while meeting deadlines and maintaining high professional standards.
A proactive, solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
Desirable Skills: Previous experience working in the public sector.
Knowledge of health and safety legislation as it applies to public sector services.
