YOUR NEW ROLE, WHAT'S INVOLVED? As an appropriately experienced Civil or Structural engineer, you will be joining our expanding Building Structures team with offices in the south of England.
In this role you'll have the opportunity for:
Carrying out structural condition assessments of existing buildings, often recorded using our range of tailored and/or bespoke semi-automated software. Designing structural remedial works designs and specifications across a broad range of buildings, sectors, project values and building materials as part of the survey role. Interacting with our building Structural designers and analysts across a range of sectors and all main construction materials. Taking personal ownership of the projects and tasks assigned to you by adopting a proactive approach to maximise performance, job satisfaction and sense of achievement in your working life. Flexible working including working from home and planning your own days in accordance with your personal needs and the survey and project delivery requirements. Having your preferred choice of WSP's modern fully equipped offices located in Southampton and Basingstoke. Contributing to our ongoing success and helping us build a continually growing order book. The role is full-time but could be performed on a part-time basis by mutual agreement.
YOUR TEAM You'll be joining a versatile team of diverse and talented individuals who work together to:
Deliver building condition assessments, refurbishment and new building structural design to a wide range of building types and materials. Provide deliverables to key Clients including Hampshire County Council, Bournemouth, Christchurch, & Poole Council, Havant and Fareham Councils, Gatwick and Heathrow airports. Potentially deliver and contribute to exciting and significant projects often involving complex structural challenges with a focus on innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective structural repairs. Form strong working relationships with other WSP disciplines, external design consultants, stakeholders and clients. Provide specialist advice and design solutions to our clients on sustainable design, net zero carbon, MMC & DfMA. WSP staff have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and high profile major multi-disciplinary development projects across the region. Projects are categorised into a wide variety of sectors including schools, rail stations, high-rise, airport buildings, commercial & mixed use, retail, education, and healthcare.

Our growing Structures South team is located in Southampton and Basingstoke, and this role could be based in either of these locations, to suit you.
WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE: A sound knowledge of structural engineering across a range of building types and usages. The ability to identify the origin and the cause of defects, and the principles involved in designing robust and cost-effective solutions for appropriate repair. Experience in the production of clear and concise engineering deliverables with minimum supervision, including written reports, calculations, sketches and specifications. Experience in the quality assurance of project deliverables including review and checking of project deliverables to generate consistent high-quality outputs. Experience of using tablet-based inspection and surveying software (noting that training will be given for all WSP's tailored or bespoke software and systems). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A personable manner and the ability to work with and support stakeholders as a proactive member of their team. Experience of working outside an office environment and planning your time flexibly to deliver allocated tasks within a programme. An awareness of low carbon design and the assessment of embodied carbon to inform engineering decision making. Achieved, or are approaching, Chartered Engineer status (MIStructE / AIStructE / MICE), or have relevant equivalent engineering experience including, ideally, a relevant engineering degree. #J-18808-Ljbffr
