Senior Employee Relations Advisor, Cambridge

Overview: We are seeking a skilled Senior Employee Relations Advisor to join our People and Culture function on a temporary basis for a period of 9 months. This role is pivotal in supporting the Royal Society of Chemistry's exceptional employee relations services, working closely with managers and staff to deliver professional and responsive People and Culture advisory support. You will be a technical expert in employee relations, proactively managing cases and contributing to policy improvements across our international organization.
At the RSC we embrace flexibility and offer hybrid working, which means our teams come together when they need to collaborate.
Although this role is contractually based at our Cambridge office, you will be able to work from home within the UK, with the expectation that you will attend the office as needed for your role.
In this role it is expected that you will attend the office a minimum of once per month. If you need flexible working arrangements, please outline this in your application.
Key Responsibilities: Provide expert guidance on People and Culture policies, procedures, and employment terms, including areas such as sickness absence, grievance, disciplinary, flexible working, performance, and probation. Support managers with end-to-end formal case management, ensuring all casework is logged and progressed in a timely manner, taking into account best practices and emerging employment law. Proactively manage case workloads from receipt through to conclusion, providing support with investigations and coaching managers through complex processes. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to understand and develop strategies for resolving employee relations challenges. Contribute to stakeholder case review meetings and provide updates on live Employee Relations cases. Collaborate with the wider People and Culture Team to identify trends and develop innovative employee relations practices. Qualifications and Skills: CIPD qualified, or significant demonstrable experience within an Employee Relations or Generalist role. Proven ability in managing complex Employee Relations cases in a transitional organization. Extensive experience in stakeholder management and collaborating with People and Culture teams. Significant understanding of People and Culture compliance, regulations, and best practices. Experience using HRIS and casework trackers. Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels. Pragmatic, solution-focused mindset with the ability to identify and implement timely and fair resolutions.
