The Role: You will work in a multi-disciplinary team, delivering top-quality designs for our unique, life-science platforms.
These combine complex microfluidic, optical, and mechanical assemblies along with reagents and bioassays to implement our Picodroplet technology and enable our customers to develop novel therapies in areas such as cancer and immune diseases.
You should be enthusiastic with excellent team-working and communication skills.
You will need to be flexible and self-motivated with a desire to succeed, whatever the challenge.
Responsibilities Develop designs from concept through prototype to manufacture Use your technical knowledge to create electrical and electronics design solutions to challenging requirements, in particular: Data and signal processing on FPGAs and microprocessors (Verilog and C++) High-speed circuit design Control algorithms High-voltage signal generation Produce schematics, PCB layouts up to 6-layer, embedded low-level code and technical documentation Source components for development and liaise with suppliers Participate in design reviews Skills and Experience A degree level qualification in Physics, Engineering or equivalent Comprehensive Electronic CAD experience, Altium preferred Experience of complex product development in a high technology industry Familiarity with low-level communication protocols (RS485, SPI, I²C, UART, CAN) Hands-on ability to build, test and troubleshoot Strong communication and problem-solving skills Advantageous Experience of: I nstrument or laboratory equipment design Engineering support throughout an entire product lifecycle Design for EMC and other regulatory requirements Component selection for long-term availability Personal Attributes Highly self-motivated, with a drive towards continual improvement both individually and for the organization Able to conduct technical communication fluently Accurate with details and documentation A keen eye for fault-finding A team player, looking out for others and motivated by success for everyone The Benefits 25 days holiday plus bank holidays Employee Share Options (EMI Scheme) Company pension scheme with Aviva (employer contributes 8%) 4x Life Insurance & Critical Illness Cover Private Medical Insurance with Vitality Health Cash Plan Group Income Protection Employee Assistance Program Cycle to Work scheme Learning & Development opportunities for career growth Long Service Bonus – up to 5 extra days holiday Recruitment referral scheme (£1,000) Flexible working hours to support work-life balance What's Next?
