Position : Senior E&I Engineer Project : Chemical Plant Job Type: Contract - Outside IR35 Contract Length: 6 months Working Arrangement: Remote site visits About the Role: We are seeking a skilled Senior E&I Engineer to join this team in working remotely on a prominent chemical manufacturing plant in Scotland .
The role involves the design, installation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of electrical and instrumentation systems critical to plant operations.
You will work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure plant reliability, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities: Design, specify, and implement electrical and instrumentation systems for chemical processing and plant facilities.
Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including single-line diagrams, loop diagrams, wiring schematics, and control panel layouts.
Lead commissioning, testing, and calibration of instrumentation and electrical equipment.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with electrical systems, instrumentation, and control loops to minimize downtime.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, electrical codes (e.g., IEC, NEC), and industry standards (e.g., ATEX, SIL).
Collaborate with process engineers and maintenance teams to optimize plant performance and reliability.
Participate in safety reviews, risk assessments, and HAZOP studies, ensuring E&I systems meet functional safety requirements.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in E&I engineering within the chemical, petrochemical, or similar process industries.
Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA systems, instrumentation, and electrical distribution systems.
Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations, such as IEC, NEC, ATEX, and SIL.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
