Working Pattern: As an employer that supports flexible working, we will consider part-time or compressed working requests, though these will be reviewed on a case by case basis and dependent on the role requirements.
Location: Hybrid working. Your contractual base will be either Meadowbank House, Edinburgh EH8 7AU or St Vincent Plaza, Glasgow G2 5LD. You will be required to visit one of these locations for in-person activities but will have the choice to work remotely in a pattern agreed with your line manager.

About this Role: This is an exciting new opportunity to spearhead the role of an economist across the work that Registers of Scotland does. No one knows more about or has better access to the data that underpins Scotland's thriving property markets. Registering over 500,000 property transactions a year generates huge amounts of information over which economic analysis will be beneficial to our business and forward planning capabilities.
You will work within a team of experts and specialists who are responsible for our official and national property statistics, customer policy, customer insight and research work. You will be required to provide wider macro and micro economic insights, compile forecasts to help improve our market analysis, income modelling and our future financial planning.
Your role will also be to support the exciting new work and business development activities we are undertaking not only across our current services, but also through our Geovation investment and the proptech market. This post also offers the opportunity to work with other public sector economists.
You will be an ambassador for the organisation and must be prepared to do media interviews. You will need to build relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders – working highly effectively with your partner senior leaders covering our commercial services, financial activities, business planning and analysis, to achieve the evolution of the statutory and non-statutory services we provide and to grow RoS' reputation.

Assessment Candidates will be assessed against the essential criteria for the role and competencies as stated above. We will invite suitable candidates to an assessment centre week commencing 16 December 2024 though this is subject to confirmation. Assessments will include a Competency-based interview and a further exercise, details of which will be shared with candidates who successfully make it through the sift stage. We will be assessing candidates remotely via MS Teams (though we may invite you to attend assessment at one of our office locations with prior agreement).
