Senior Early Years Practitioner

Reporting to Nursery Manager ensuring that the highest standards of childcare and education are always maintained.
Main Duties To deliver and ensure a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 0-5 years.
To manage the day to day running of your room.
To ensure that your room is a safe environment for children, staff, and others.
To implement and adhere to a consistent daily routine both indoors and outdoors ensuring high quality teaching and learning experiences are always offered to children.
To demonstrate current knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and that you comply with all areas of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.
To develop partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child's development.
To manage your room team.
General responsibilities To ensure responsibility for the effective daily running of your room.
Give time, attention, and energy to each individual child so that they can reach their full potential.
Direct members of the team within your area as required to ensure each child's needs are met.
Maintain a Medicine, Accident and injury on arrival forms as required by the 1989 Children's Act.
Abide by the Trafford Guidelines & the Statutory Framework for the Early Years on Safeguarding Children together with Elmscot's Safeguarding Policy; ensuring you have an understanding that safeguarding is everybody's responsibility and that you have a duty to act accordingly & report any concerns.
Maintain children's assessment, observation & tracking records.
Report any matters of concern regarding children, staff, or parents to the Nursery Manager.
To have a sound knowledge of Company policies, procedures, and expectations.
To act as an excellent role model to the staff team being able to showcase high quality practice in all areas.
To take responsibility for excellent hygiene, health and safety and security practice within the Nursery.
To work co-operatively with the manager, deputy, 3 rd In Charge and other Senior Early Years' Practitioners.
To support and lead your room in planning and providing appropriate daily activities in line with guidance from the EYFS.
To uphold the highest level of safeguarding practice and ensure Company policies and procedures are always adhered to.
To manage and supervise observation, assessment, and planning in your room, ensuring all children are making progress.
Participate in ongoing training for personal and professional development.
On completion of the health and safety induction, ensure that you always adhere to all health and safety regulations.
Ensure no food is stored with your rooms.
Ensure that the routine of the rooms you are working in run smoothly, organising shifts, lunch hours and breaks.
Ensure that new members of the team are aware of all health and safety issues - ensuring you and your team always adhere to health and safety regulations including the identification of risks and reporting any concerns to the Health & Safety co-ordinator.
To work with outside professionals where required.
To work closely with parents and create trusting relationships with all families.

PERSON SPECIFICATION Qualifications (Essential) Minimum level 3 in early years or equivalent Knowledge of the Early Years' Sector Good standard of English and Maths at GCSE ideally at grades 7-4 or equivalent Relevant Experience & Skills (Essential) 1 year or more experience of working in a nursery or similar environment Experience of being a key person Excellent knowledge of the Early Years' Foundation Stage and current Ofsted framework Personal Style & Behaviour (Essential) Excellent verbal communication skills with staff, children, and parents Other Skills (Essential) Able to use written English to write reports and keep clear and accurate records Basic Administrative and IT skills Effective leadership skills Ability to work as part of a team Ability to work under pressure Able to work on own initiative Calm and caring nature Empathy and understanding of children under 5 years old Reliable Enthusiastic Flexible Other Skills (Desirable) Paediatric first aid Safeguarding training Food hygiene Manual handling SENCO experience
