Job Description Role:Senior Design Engineer Location:Plymouth(hybrid -once in a week) Duration:6 months Rate:£70-£80/hour Inside IR35 \n Job title: Design Integration Senior Engineer \nJob Purpose\n To support the design development and delivery of Facility work packages associated with the 5 Basin berthing requirements for Astute Class submarines at 5 Basin East Wall Centre and South.
The Design Integration Senior Engineer is accountable to the 5 Basin Facility Design Manager for the design development of work packages for quality, output in accordance with scope, schedule, and cost.
\nResponsibilities\n \n \n \n \n Manage one or more technical design sub packages as assigned by the Design Manager (Integration), agreeing project related objectives, managing designer performance, and making appropriate technical management responses.
Provide Subject Matter Expert advice as per discipline.
\n Ensure design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule and budget.
\n Assist the Design Manager (Integration) to ensure effective Quality Management Arrangements via compliance with Babcock's Business Management System and Technical Manual.
\n Ensure that the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and configuration and quality controls applied.
\n Ensure that contractors are familiar with the hazards and risks associated with the work undertaken by the delegated engineering team through effective management and communication of the Risk Assessment.
\n Ensure design information is articulated to the Design Manager (Integration) to enable appropriate justification of the engineering / activities within the Facility Safety Case.
\n Liaise with Engineering Services Technical Authority to ensure that Relevant Good Practice is employed.
\n Review of Design House submission to confirm design complies with engineering standards and requirements.
\n Advising and assisting with integration and facilities design and management, and stakeholder involvement.
\n \n \n \n \nWhat do I need to do the role?
Essential:\n \n Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in relevant engineering discipline, with significant demonstrable experience \n Chartered Engineer status (or actively working toward Chartered Status) \n Experience in working collaboratively in multi-discipline teams to deliver activities on a range of project types \n Demonstrable experience in covering a variety of tasks across a range of complexities \n Good communications skills and the ability to interface with other disciplines \n \n \nDesirable:\n \n Member of relevant institute or significant demonstrable engineering experience and capable of registration with the Engineering Council \n Breadth and depth of experience in a range of commercial or defence projects \n \n \n
