Senior Credit Underwriter – Energy Transition Location: Can be based anywhere in Europe Salary: £100k plus Benefits As a leading financial institution dedicated to supporting green and innovative initiatives, my client is seeking a Senior Credit Underwriter with expertise in energy transition projects to join their dynamic team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in driving global decarbonisation efforts while ensuring sound financial risk management.
The Role As a Senior Credit Underwriter, you will be responsible for assessing and managing credit risks associated with a portfolio of energy transition projects, including renewable energy developments, energy efficiency initiatives, and emerging technologies like solar, EV charging, LED lighting, hydrogen and battery storage.
Leveraging your deep industry knowledge, you will provide critical insights and recommendations to structure financing solutions that balance profitability with environmental impact.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive credit analysis for energy transition projects, evaluating financial, operational, and market risks.
Collaborate with origination teams to structure innovative financing solutions tailored to the unique needs of renewable and sustainable energy initiatives.
Perform due diligence, including reviewing business plans, financial models, and environmental impact assessments.
Monitor portfolio performance, identifying early warning signs and recommending proactive risk mitigation strategies.
Stay informed about regulatory developments and market trends in the energy transition sector to refine underwriting criteria.
Prepare detailed credit reports and present recommendations to credit committees.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior underwriters, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
About You We are looking for a driven professional with a strong background in credit underwriting and a passion for sustainable energy solutions.
Key Qualifications: Experience in credit underwriting, preferably with exposure to energy transition projects.
Strong knowledge of renewable energy markets, technologies, and financing structures.
Demonstrated expertise in credit analysis, financial modelling, and risk assessment.
Proven track record of structuring and executing complex financing transactions.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
