Job summary Salary (depending on experience) £61,403 - £68,283The post holder will work remotely but will be required to work at any PH locations as and when required.As a key member of NHS PH, you will work as part of a multidisciplinaryteam which includes doctors, specialist nurses, psychiatrists and therapists,with access to a network of specialist advisors as part of the PH central team.The Senior Cognitive Behavioural therapist will provide highly specialised assessments andtherapeutic interventions and offer expert advice, recommendations andconsultation to other professionals within the regional and national team.
Theymay also be required to provide advice to external agencies including primarycare, occupational health and staff wellbeing support services.The Senior Therapist will be accountable to the NHS PHTherapy and Group Lead (Therapy Lead) who will ensure they meet therequirements of their roles and responsibilities.
The Therapy Lead will meetformally with the post holder, although will be available between times.
TheSenior Therapist will provide supervision and advice to contracted and employedtherapists within the service.The Senior Therapist will receive induction to allprocesses, practices, culture and values of the PH service and be invited toparticipate in regional and annual networking events.
Main duties of the job RESPONSIBILITIESPLEASE REFER to JOB DESCRIPTION FOR MORE INFORMATIONAct as a source of expert advice for regionalmultidisciplinary teams advising and recommending therapeutic pathways andapproaches for individual patient care.Maintain a high clinical profile, being highlyvisible, accessible and approachable to patients, clinicians, therapists andoperational staff to ensure that open and honest communication channels arecreated and sustained.Maintainown therapist role and caseload and ideally maintain own group lead/facilitatorrole.Ensure the provision of specialised andconsistent therapeutic interventions, including minimisation of risk of harmacross the service, maintaining an overview of the standards of care beingdelivered and instigating remedial action if necessary and in accordance withcurrent legislation, policy and procedure.Work with related senior regional clinicalleads, clinicians and therapists in assessing the therapeutic skills requiredto deliver a safe and high-quality service, identifying gaps and supportingdeveloping programmes to address these issues.Provideexpert advice to clinicians and therapists, responding to queries and issuesarising from the management of individual patients therapy and facilitate safeand appropriate , timely discharge.
Providesupport to employed and contracted therapists in managing their own caseloads,auditing quality of provision and escalating and acting on concerns whereappropriate.

Providesupport to employed and contracted therapists in managing their own caseloads,auditing quality of provision and escalating and acting on concerns whereappropriate.Monitor significant events, complaints orissues within defined area, observing for trends and need for service or staff development,working with senior leads to inform strategy and service development andimprovements.Act in an advisory capacity and resource tostaff, guiding and supporting developmental projects and make recommendationson further resources as appropriate.Actively promote patient involvement in allaspects of care planning and delivery, while respecting the rights, culturalneeds, capabilities and wishes of the individuals concerned.Ensure safeguarding and escalation processesand systems are in place and adhered to.Provide specialist training both internally and assist with induction and ongoing CPD for thetherapist network nationally.Occasionaldelivery of speaking engagements or support to events in relation to PH therapyoffer.Occasionaldelivery of national communications to raise awareness of the service includingpresentations at conferences, podcasts and on social media.Reviewtherapy offers for effectiveness and outcomes and identify areas fordevelopment or change, ensuring our therapy offers reflect current NICEguidelines and are in line with evidence-based practice.Monitor and record clinical outcomes throughevaluation, audit and review.Ensure evidence-based practice in all clinicaltherapeutic work and promote the evidence base in area of specialist expertise.Actively participate in the formulation andreview of PH therapeutic provision and related policies and protocols.Work in partnership with other Seniortherapists, Therapy Lead, and key providers, in the development of standardsand audit of practice.Actively participate, and lead when required,in the recruitment and selection of clinical, therapeutic and non-clinicalstaff ensuring appropriate skill mix for the service.Work alongside the Therapy Lead; informationteam and PH managers/leads in service performance management including thecollection/collation and submission of data to support activity and KPIreporting.Seek, evaluate and organise accurateinformation as a means of initiating and implementing change and ongoingimprovements in service content, quality and delivery.Ensure comprehensive clinical notes and recordsare maintained in line with PH standards, safeguarding at all times theconfidentiality of information relating to patients and staff.Make sound professional judgements whilsthandling sensitive information within the framework of confidentiality.Assist in the resolution of any conflictswithin the clinical area, resolving informal complaints locally and assistingin the investigation of and response to formal complaints as required.Assist where appropriate the Therapy Lead or PHmanager with competency and disciplinary concerns with members of the team.Create, maintain and enhance effectivecommunication and working relationships with professional networks andcolleagues.Maintain professional registration and adhereto professional code of conduct and take responsibility for own CPD plan inline with professional guidance.Undertake continued clinical professionaldevelopment with the support of an identified clinical supervisor.Utiliseown networks to disseminate knowledge of the service.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential Degree or equivalent, registered with the appropriate professional regulator Training/qualification to deliver therapy (CBT or equivalent) Evidence of continuing professional development Desirable Relevant post-graduate qualification in Mental Health related field Experience Essential Minimum 3 years experience of post qualification.
Significant experience of working in primary care, community or secondary care mental health and/or addiction services.
Empathy and an understanding of distressed clinicians and health/care professionals many of whom will have been reluctant to contact the service Experience of working with mentally ill health/care professionals Experience of providing, receiving and processing sensitive or contentious information and communicating this effectively.
Experience of building and developing ef-fective working relationships and network-ing with senior professionals Desirable Minimum 5 years experience in managing mental health/delivering therapy in primary, community or secondary care setting Experience of producing reports, assess-ments and presentations involving highly complex information.
