Job summary We are looking to recruit one Senior Clinical Fellow (ST4+ equivalent) position for a fixed term of 12 months initially, that may be extendable further following review.
This will suit a senior radiology trainee who wants to undertake a period of service outside of their training programme and familiarise themselves with working semi-independently in a busy Radiology Department, while working towards further qualifications.
The appointee will join a group of 20 Consultants, 9 radiology specialist registrars and 1 speciality doctor.
The department is looking for a trainee who is dynamic, works well in a team and wants to enhance their subspecialty interest.
The Radiology Department at Luton Hospital provides a comprehensive imaging service, which includes plain radiography, contrast studies, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, CT, MRI, Breast Imaging and interventional radiology.
The applicant is expected to have a wide range of experience in general radiology.
We have a good track record for teaching and training and previous senior clinical fellows have gone on to pass the FRCR and obtain consultant positions in the UK Main duties of the job The post holder will participate in all of the day to day departmental service and training activity.
This would include duty radiology sessions, ultrasound lists, and general screening lists, reporting both routine and urgent cross sectional and plain film and participating in the first on call rota.
The post holder may work independently in providing some of these services, dependant on experience, and after having demonstrated sufficient expertise to do so.
In other sessions the post holder will work under the supervision of a consultant radiologist, though there will be no expectation of a formal training commitment from the Consultant for that session.
