Job summary This is an amazing opportunity, which we believe is a ground breaking role.
This locally employed training fellowshipis designed to provide a senior trainee with the opportunity to work with an award-winning Parkinson's Multidisciplinary Team.
It is hoped that on completion of the post, the trainee will have acquired the skills and confidence to take on a consultant rolewith a special interest in Parkinson's at some point in the future.
Working towards a September 2025 start, we welcome applications from trainees who have this career aim in mind.
ST4-ST7 trainees in Neurology or Geriatric Medicine (or CESR equivalent) or non-consultant CCST holders are eligible to apply.
An additional teaching allowance may be available.
Main duties of the job A job plan will be created specifically for you and with you.
The duties will be subject to review from time to time in light of the changing requirements of the service.We want you to learn and progress and for this post to add real value; numerous training opportunities are available and you will be actively encouraged to access these options.Based at Royal Derby Hospital the appointee will undertake duties in the neurology-led movement disorder clinic and the DME-led Multidisciplinary Parkinson's clinic at the Florence Nightingale Community Hospital.
There may be opportunities and potentially a requirement to work across other UHDB sites in order to develop the service and should the need arise.This post will allow the trainee to develop expertise in the assessment and management of people with Parkinson's.
Weekly MDT meetings provide a fantastic educational opportunity and there is chance for a forward-thinking individual to shape service developments.

Job description Job responsibilities The Derby Parkinsons service is recognised by the US Parkinsons Foundation as a Centre of Excellence, one of only two centres in the UK with this accreditation.
Our service includes not just neurologists and geriatricians, but specialists in old age psychiatry and palliative medicine, hospital and community-based Parkinsons nurse specialists and nationally recognised therapists.

This is the first Parkinsons clinical training fellowship in the UK open to both neurology and geriatric medicine trainees.

Our Trust is growing and with the merger with Burton Hospitals there are exciting opportunities on the horizon which will benefit our Staffordshire patients Person Specification Qualifications Essential Part 2 written MRCP and PACES Advanced Life Support certification MBBS Eligibility Essential Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice at time of application A minimum 4 years post qualification medical experience in the UK or abroad including experience in Acute Medicine/Medical specialities Minimum 6 months working experience in NHS hospitals in medical specialties within the past 2 years ST4-ST7 or CESR equivalent in neurology or medicine for the elderly or CCST in one of these specialities Clinical knowledge and skills Essential Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk Proven ability to work effectively in different clinical settings required in the job Desirable Experience of managing people with Parkinson's Clinical Governance Desirable Participation and audit
