Senior Clinical Fellow In Colorectal & General Surgery

Job summary We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated trainee to join our Colorectal department at registrar level from February 2025 for 6 months.
.
This post is ideal for someone looking to improve their training and skills in Colorectal and General Surgery.
The General Surgery Department is very busy with high throughput of both elective and emergency patients.
A full range of colorectal disease is managed in the department by 10 consultants and three Specialist Nurses.
TAMIS, TEO and SILS have been established within the Colorectal department.
Colorectal robotic cancer resections are performed regularly.
Our unit also offers ELAPE, complex IBD work/pouch surgery, complex endometriosis/advanced ovarian cancer (joint surgery with gynae-oncologist).
The Royal Derby Hospital is a regional anal cancer centre and hosts the significant polyp and early rectal cancer MDT for management of these conditions in the Unit.
We have one of the largest endoscopy departments in the country.
The colorectal unit in Derby is accredited for level III training by the Association of Coloproctology of GB & I. Whilst this is not a training post, candidates will be joining a supportive department with lots of opportunities to train and develop their skills.
Main duties of the job The post will support the Colorectal team with ward rounds, assisting in theatre and day case operating lists as well supporting consultants with outpatient clinics.
There is also the opportunity to join training lists in the endoscopy department.The post will be expected to join the General Surgery Registrar on call rota which is a 1:18 rota.There will also be opportunity for training, audit and teaching.

We carry out more than 140 elective procedures each working day Job description Job responsibilities Applicants must have full GMC registration at the time of application and be eligible to work in the UK.
Applicants should have 2 years' experience in Surgery not including foundation years and have at least 6 months experience working in General Surgery in the UK.

Presentations & publications Experience Essential 2 years' experience in Surgery (not including Foundation Years) 6 months experience in General Surgery Minimum of 6 months experience within a UK Healthcare setting Desirable UK experience in Colorectal Surgery Clinical Knowledge Essential Evidence of appropriate operative experience Desirable Attendance at relevant courses ATLS, Basic Surgical Skills or equivalent Audit Essential Evidence of participation and understanding of the principles of audit
