Senior Climate Manager - Salary is Competitive We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Climate Manager to join our team to help us deliver Aviva's commitment to net zero.
The role would suit someone with a very good understanding of climate strategy (in particular related to the investment portfolio), net zero pathways, carbon metrics and climate reporting and experience in working with complex technical concepts and data relating to the transition to net zero and related external reporting.
In this role, you will have a direct impact on Aviva's net zero transition and our investment, underwriting and operational strategies.
A bit about the job: You will provide expertise and leadership in climate science to help shape the overall direction of the team's technical work and deliver projects to support the transition to net zero of our investment portfolio (including sector and asset class decarbonisation and developing and implementing robust carbon performance frameworks).
The role will also provide oversight and challenge over the Group's underwriting, operational and supply chain decarbonisation strategy.
Day to day you will undertake bespoke analysis of climate related data, climate metrics and related work and contribute to internal and external reports, working with the Climate Strategy Lead and others to increase dissemination and uptake of outputs, while developing frameworks and tools to support the implementation of the net zero roadmap.
You will lead on any Group-related target setting such as the SBTi target refresh and business planning work, and lead on the publication of the Climate Transition Plan and support other climate-related reporting, keeping up to date with external developments and guidance, new knowledge, and initiatives on climate change, prepare briefings and undertake reviews to inform our discussions and planning, working in partnership with other internal teams undertaking work relevant to our net zero strategy and with external consultants.
Skills and experience we're looking for: Strong experience built in similar roles delivering climate-focused technical leadership and delivery in the FS sector (insurance, asset management or banking) Strong technical expertise in climate metrics, ESG / climate datasets and providers Expertise in climate science, including hands-on experience in developing and / or applying sector and regional carbon pathways and carbon reporting methodologies Knowledge of key external initiatives and players in the climate finance and sector decarbonisation space, and additional knowledge or experience related to nature/biodiversity welcome Excellent stakeholder engagement and management skills, with a problem solving mindset and prior experience in a strategy focused role preferred What you'll get for this role: Our purpose - with you today, for a better tomorrow - is a promise we make to our colleagues too.
