Integrum Power Engineering - Part of the OCU Group, is an electrical engineering design & build contractor and ICP specialising in high voltage power transmission & distribution projects.

About the job As a Senior Authorised Person (SAP), you will hold a critical role in ensuring the safe operation and maintenance of high voltage electrical systems within the organisation.
You will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical switching operations, as well as providing technical expertise and guidance to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
Responsibilities: Electrical Safety Management: Assume the role of Senior Authorised Person (SAP) for high voltage electrical systems, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, codes of practice, and company procedures.
Conduct risk assessments and method statements for electrical switching operations, identifying hazards, implementing controls, and mitigating risks to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.
Switching Operations: Plan, coordinate, and execute electrical switching operations for high voltage equipment, including isolation, earthing, and re-energization, in accordance with approved procedures and permits.
Perform switching operations using appropriate safety protocols and equipment, ensuring adherence to safety clearances, lockout/tagout procedures, and electrical safety rules.
Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise and guidance on high voltage electrical systems, equipment, and protective devices, ensuring their proper operation, maintenance, and reliability.
Conduct inspections, tests, and maintenance activities on high voltage equipment, identifying defects, anomalies, and deficiencies, and recommending corrective actions as necessary.
Training and Development: Provide training and competency assessment for personnel involved in electrical switching operations, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge, skills, and qualifications to perform their duties safely and effectively.
Mentor and coach junior SAPs and electrical technicians, sharing knowledge and best practices to support their professional development and enhance team capabilities.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of electrical switching operations, including switching schedules, permits, logbooks, and incident reports, in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation related to electrical safety performance, incidents, and compliance for management review and regulatory reporting purposes.
Emergency Response: Participate in emergency response and contingency planning for high voltage electrical incidents, providing technical support and guidance to mitigate risks and ensure timely resolution of issues.
Respond promptly to electrical emergencies, such as faults, outages, and equipment failures, implementing appropriate measures to restore electrical supply and minimize disruption to operations.
What you will need to be successful: Qualified Senior Authorised Person (SAP) with extensive experience in high voltage electrical systems operation and maintenance.
Strong knowledge of electrical safety regulations, standards, and best practices, with a focus on high voltage switching operations and electrical safety rules.
Proven experience in planning, coordinating, and executing electrical switching operations for high voltage equipment, including substations, switchgear, and transformers.
Technical expertise in high voltage electrical systems, equipment, and protective devices, with the ability to troubleshoot electrical faults and anomalies and implement corrective actions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels and convey technical information clearly and concisely.
Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and make sound judgments in high-pressure situations.
Relevant qualifications in electrical engineering or a related field, with additional certifications such as HV Authorised Person (HVAP), HV Switching Operations, or HV Safety Rules is essential.
Previous experience in a senior role within the utilities, energy, or industrial sector is highly desirable.
