Job summary An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic well motivated individual to work within the respiratory and sleep physiology team at North Manchester General Hospital and associate Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Harpurhey, part of the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.This is a rapidly growing service and we require an individual with the drive and ambition to move the service forward within the evolving field of respiratory and sleep medicine, providing high standards of patient care in keeping with trust values.
Main duties of the job Working between North Manchester General Hospital and Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) on a rostered basis.To carry out a wide range of non-complex respiratory investigations, according to national and local guidelines/protocols, seeking support and advice from a senior member of staff as required.Configure and download equipment for patients undergoing home sleep studies.Support remote monitoring CPAP clinics and troubleshooting CPAP clinics via phone or face to face, escalating complex issues to senior physiologists.Support telephone helpline and issuing replacement CPAP consumables where required.For further information, please see the attached trust job description and person specification for a full list of duties and responsibilities.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential A-Levels in biological sciences or equivalent (NVQ level III in Science/healthcare).
GCSEs grade 4 or above (or equivalent) in English Language, Math and Science.
Desirable Healthcare Science Associate Apprenticeship (Level 4).
Undertaking Foundation degree in Health Care Science or similar approved physiology course.
Experience Essential Experience working within a healthcare service.
Experience working within the physiological sciences discipline.
Providing compassionate patient care while meeting conflicting demands of service provision.
Desirable Experience working in a sleep or respiratory department.
Experience performing quality assured spirometry, blood gases and issuing sleep studies.
Completed ARTP or equivalent courses.
Skills & Knowledge Essential Good face to face and telephone communication skills.
The ability to remain calm under pressure, be fast but accurate in their work.
Ability to work both autonomously and within a team.
Competency in computer database input and record keeping.
Desirable Experience in use of Epic software.
An understanding of Respiratory and Sleep Physiology.
Open to further formal study.
Other Essential A willingness to learn new tests and techniques.
Prepared to work at community diagnostic centres (CDC) on a rostered system.
