With more than 20 years experience in the price comparison industry, and headquartered in Belfast, Seopa runs the and financial comparison brands as well as powering the comparison engines of multiple well known UK brands.
An independently owned indigenous company, Seopa helps millions of UK consumers every year to find better deals.
With annual turnover currently in excess of £30million and rising, the company is undergoing unprecedented growth and as such requires a Senior Company Accountant to join its finance function in line with this expansion.
This is a very responsible role in a fast paced, data led fintech business and is only suitable for exceptional candidates.
The successful candidate will be responsible for management of the existing accounts admin function and take the lead role in working with external accountants with a view to developing and enhancing the management reporting, forecasting and control systems in the business as it continues to scale.
The successful candidate will need to be innovative, hands-on in daily operations, passionate about driving efficiencies and committed to embracing new technology and processes to move the finance function forwards.
The role: (reporting to CEO) Financial Reporting and Accounts Preparation: Preparation of weekly, monthly, and annual management and financial accounts in a timely and accurate manner.
Preparation of accounts for audit at year-end and support for statutory audits.
Statutory accounts preparation and compliance with legal/regulatory requirements, including VAT returns, government surveys, and company filings in the UK and ROI.
Preparation and reconciliation of Balance Sheet Accounts.
Performing any other ad hoc duties as required, including reporting for management.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Budgeting and forecasting processes, including the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and variance analysis.
Working across our business and data science teams to evolve and improve our internal reporting and forecasting processes in detail.
(e.g., making detailed financial models which include customer segmentation, renewal rates, lifetime values per marketing source, etc.)
Reporting and Presentation: Production and presentation of KPI reports to the CEO, future CFO, and SLT as required.
Reports for government bodies.
Responding to commercial queries on a timely basis.
Process Improvement and Internal Controls: Maintenance, continuous development, enhancement, and documentation of company procedures and internal controls.
Identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements, including research and organization of the implementation of automated accounting systems to enhance our existing setup for processing of bank receipts, expenses, and outgoing payments.
Cash Management and Optimization: Balancing cashflow vs investment returns.
Finding ways to ensure the company makes the best use of its cash reserves.
Foreign Exchange optimisation, savings, and investments optimisation.
Liaison and Stakeholder Management: Liaising with various internal and external stakeholders, including senior managers and other internal and external bodies.
Office Finance Administration and Bookkeeping: Overseeing and providing hands-on coverage where necessary, for the office finance administration and bookkeeping function to include supplier payments, aged debtor management, invoice queries, employee expenses, invoicing, accounting system administration, and office management function.
The person: Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) with strong accounting experience.
Proven experience in a similar role within an online, CRM, or ecommerce business is highly advantageous.
A knowledge of ecommerce online traffic acquisition models through various marketing channels would be advantageous.
Experience in M&A transactions and investment management is a plus.
Excellent IT skills with a strong understanding of how to introduce efficiencies in financial and operational processes.
Proficiency in using accounting systems (particularly Sage Accounting and similar products) and advanced Excel skills.
Familiarity with implementing automated accounting systems and process improvements.
Hands-on, fast-moving, and accountable with high levels of initiative.
Strong communication, stakeholder management and organizational skills.
Strong commercial acumen.
High level of numeracy and attention to detail.
Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively.
