We are seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to work one-on-one with a child with autism in a Reception class at a primary school in Leeds.
This full-time position starts as soon as possible and will run through February, with the potential for extension. Roles and Responsibilities: Provide individualised support for a child with autism, helping them engage with daily classroom activities.Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver personalised learning plans.Use tailored strategies to help the student with sensory and communication needs, promoting a calm and positive learning experience.Monitor the child's progress and adapt your approach to meet their evolving needs.Encourage social interactions and help develop essential skills through structured activities and play.Assist with transitions between activities and environments, ensuring the child feels secure and supported. Requirements: Previous experience working with children with autism or other SEN in an educational setting.Strong understanding of autism and knowledge of communication and sensory support techniques.Patience, empathy, and the ability to create a calm, supportive atmosphere.Effective communication skills to collaborate with staff and engage positively with the child.DBS check required (or willingness to complete one).
