SEN Teaching Assistant Autism & Sensory Needs Lambeth A primary school in Lambeth is actively seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide essential support for students with autism and sensory processing challenges.
This role is integral in fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant Type: Fulltime Permanent Location: Lambeth South London School Information: The school is committed to delivering an inclusive education tailored to meet the diverse needs of its students.
With a strong focus on individual growth the institution aims to create a supportive atmosphere that encourages both academic and social development for students with special educational needs.
Responsibilities: Provide sensoryfriendly support in the classroom to enhance the learning experience for students with autism and sensory processing challenges.
Implement calming techniques and sensory breaks tailored to individual students needs ensuring they feel safe and focused during lessons.
Collaborate closely with the SENCO and classroom teachers to develop and adapt lesson plans that accommodate sensory needs and promote engagement.
Monitor and document students responses to various teaching strategies and sensory activities providing feedback to the SENCO for further adjustments.
Build trusting relationships with students encouraging their social interactions and helping them navigate the school environment comfortably.
Engage with parents and caregivers to provide updates on student progress and share effective strategies to support learning at home.
Qualifications: Previous experience supporting students with autism and sensory processing needs is highly advantageous.
Familiarity with sensory integration techniques and interventions that promote engagement and learning.
A calm patient and flexible approach to working with students with diverse needs.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team and maintain open lines of communication with parents.
A clear DBS check is required to ensure the safety and welfare of all students.
