SEN Teacher Location: York, North Yorkshire Salary Scale: MPS/UPS; £31,650 - £49,084 per annum Start Date: January 2025 Contract Type: Full-Time GSL Education's North Yorkshire branch is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate SEN Teacher to work with secondary students who have diverse learning needs.
Successful candidate will work at a Special Educational Needs School located in York, North Yorkshire starting in January 2025.
SEN Teacher Responsibilities: Teaching students with special needs on 1:1 or group basis.
Develop, implement, and regularly review IEPs for students, setting realistic and challenging targets in collaboration with other professionals, parents, and the students themselves.
Marking, assessing work and tracking pupil progress.
Developing and adapting conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of pupils.
Collaborate with Teaching Assistants to define appropriate activities for pupils in relation to the curriculum.
Be knowledgeable about warning signs and triggers.  Follow Education Health Care Plans to ensure outcomes are met.   Previous working experience with Educational Psychology services, Paediatricians, CAMHS or Therapists is advantageous but not essential.
SEN Teacher Requirements : Have UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Have 6 months experience working in special needs or alternative provisions.
Have experience working in an SEN or mainstream setting with secondary-age students.
A thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Team player who works well within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the overall success of the school and its students.
Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to complete one through GSL Education .
