Hays Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to work in specialist SEMH schools or SEN schools with pupils who have Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) in Leeds.
You will be responsible for delivering tailored educational programs to meet each student's unique needs.
Key Responsibilities: Although initially covering, you may be asked to plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that cater to the individual needs of students with SEMH and EBSA.
Implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and a conducive learning environment.
Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, and parents to support each student's academic and personal development.
Demonstrate patience and understanding in challenging situations, managing behaviours such as aggression, withdrawal, or anxiety.
Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or overseas equivalent.
Proven experience working with students with SEMH and EBSA.
Strong understanding of de-escalation and calming techniques.
A proactive and caring attitude.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
