The school has been part of a federation less than a year and whilst many staff have been retained and the student body remains very similar; the changes to systems, expectations, outcomes and the mood is significant.
The school is a positive place to work where challenging students do exist but where real worthwhile change is produced through hard work, a great team ethos and a supportive SLT.
The SEN TeacherI am seeking an experienced Secondary SEN teacher who is comfortable delivering a cross curricula approach.
Due to the nature of the class good ASD knowledge strong behaviour management skills, good rapport with staff and a positive open demeanour are key attributes for a successful applicant.
Whilst experience teaching in an SEN setting could be helpful the Headteacher encourages applicants with the right skills and experience from mainstream schools. The SEN SchoolThis South East London SEN school is now under the leadership of an outstanding Headteacher who has come in having brought about significant change at their previous schools bringing all three from "requires improvement" to at least "good".
The Headteacher and SLT back the teaching and support staff to the hilt as they appreciate the challenges they face.
To ensure staff morale and keep their eye on the ball they retain a partial teaching timetable for the rest of the SLT and attends teacher meetings ensuring that they don't become disconnected from the realities and dynamics within the school.
Most importantly they know all the students and their individual needs personally. This South East London SEN school is made up of a highly regarded staff team who believe every pupil deserves to be able to access mainstream schooling and the national curriculum.
The students have all been referred to school due to their inability to thrive in mainstream schools.
Most are diagnosed as having Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues which means that they can be challenging.
Classes are no larger than 8 pupils and as a result children are offered more individual attention than could be afforded in a mainstream school. All pupils access a bespoke pupil focused curriculum developed around their specific needs, abilities and attainment potential.
Lessons are creative, multi-sensory and a fantastic curriculum lead is on hand spending time in each class weekly to help coach outstanding practise, support lesson planning and assessment and to act as a sounding board or resource for teaching staff.BenefitsHands on Experienced SLTExcellent Rates of PaySuperb Training and Career Development PathwaysProven Headteacher - Phenomenal Track Record of Running Schools and Developing StaffFriendly, Open, Supportive and Close Knit School CommunityExcellent Transport LinksModern School Building with Therapy Pool, Art Studio, Therapy Rooms, Well Appointed Classrooms & Outdoor SpaceGenuine Desire To Appoint Permanent Staff
