As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you'll work alongside teachers, SENCOs and support staff to provide personalised assistance to students aged 11 - 16 who face barriers to learning.
Your role will be vital in helping these students engage with their education, build resilience and succeed both academically and personally.
Key responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs Assist in classroom activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment Help students regulate their emotions and behaviour using de-escalation strategies Collaborate with teaching staff to implement EHCPs and tailored support strategies Promote students' emotional wellbeing and foster positive behaviour and social skills Monitor and report on student progress to the SENCO and teachers Who we're looking for: Experience working with young people with SEMH or other special educational needs in a school, youth work or a care setting Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff A calm, patient and nurturing approach to supporting young people Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a positive and non-confrontational manor Flexibility, resilience and a passion for improving the lives of young people Able to drive and have access to your own car Desirable: relevant qualifications (e.g Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) If you have a passion for helping young people overcome challenges and succeed, we encourage you to apply!
