Job Advertisement: Experienced Teaching Assistant – SEMH School Full-Time (Temp to Perm) We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Teaching Assistant to join a team in a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) School on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis.
This role requires someone with strong behaviour management skills , empathy , and the ability to support students who face social and emotional challenges.
As an integral part of the school community, you will work closely with students who have struggled in mainstream education, helping them re-engage with learning and develop positive behaviours.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with SEMH needs and be committed to providing consistent support in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities: Support students in both classroom and one-on-one settings, helping them stay focused and engaged with their learning.
Implement effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
Build strong relationships with students, offering empathy and understanding of their emotional and social challenges.
Assist teachers in delivering lessons, adapting activities to meet the needs of students with SEMH and behavioural difficulties.
Provide emotional and behavioural support to students, helping them manage their emotions and behaviours in a healthy and constructive way.
Collaborate with the wider school team to create and maintain a supportive, safe, and inclusive environment.
Monitor student progress, offering feedback to teachers and supporting staff to ensure students are receiving the right level of care and guidance.
What We're Looking For: Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role in a SEMH or special educational needs setting.
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
A genuine passion for supporting students with SEMH needs, showing empathy and understanding of their individual circumstances.
Reliability and a commitment to providing consistent, high-quality support.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
