Salary: £140+ per day (DOE) Contract: Full-time (term-time only) Position Overview :We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEMH Teacher to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with special educational needs and challenging behaviours particularly in a secondary school setting.
As a SEMH Teacher, you will be responsible for creating and delivering engaging and accessible lessons that cater to the diverse needs of our students.
You will work collaboratively with other staff members to develop Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure the academic success and personal development of all students.
Key Responsibilities : Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality science lessons that are adapted to the individual needs and abilities of students with special educational needs.
Differentiate instruction to accommodate various learning styles, abilities, and challenges, including sensory processing differences and communication difficulties.
Incorporate hands-on experiments, demonstrations, and multimedia resources to enhance student engagement and understanding.
Utilize assistive technologies and adaptive equipment to support students with physical disabilities or sensory impairments in accessing the music curriculum.
Assess student progress regularly using a variety of assessment methods and provide constructive feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.
Collaborate with other teachers, teaching assistants, therapists, and support staff to create a cohesive and inclusive learning environment.
Participate in professional development opportunities to expand knowledge and skills in special education and adapt teaching strategies to meet the evolving needs of students.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
Proven experience working with students with special educational needs, particularly in a secondary school setting.
Strong subject knowledge in Science and the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to students with diverse learning needs.
Familiarity with assistive technologies, adaptive equipment, and accommodations for students with disabilities.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the academic and personal growth of students with special educational needs.
Each candidate will be subject to a DBS and police check where required.
A successful candidate will also provide at least two references from their previous employer/s.
