To ensure the continued quality of care at HMP Werrington, we are looking for aPodiatristto join our bank team, working 2 hours a month. There is no on-call or weekend work to allow for a strong work life balance!
You will be part of a forward thinking, innovative health care team, including GPs, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists and mental health professionals, delivering high quality, best practice treatment. You will also form part of the wider MSK Health in Justice Team comprising of physiotherapists and podiatrists working in 33 prisons across the country. You will be closely supported and mentored by our Team Lead Podiatrist, and this combined with our well-developed appraisal system, in-service training and funding for external clinical courses, you will be provided with an excellent supportive learning environment.
HMP Werrington is a young offender institution located in Werrington, Staffordshire.
Main duties of the jobThis role requires the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the offender healthcare setting who may have complex and/or chronic presentation. You will need to determine clinical diagnosis and clinical treatment, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
With this in mind, you will be HCPC registered with post registration experience assessing and treating a range of conditions including diabetic patients, wound management, MSK pathologies and nail surgery. You will also be self-motivated with excellent communication and organisational skills.

Job responsibilitiesAs aPodiatrist working with Practice Plus Group you will:
Provideoutstanding evidence based care, listening and acting on patient feedback sothat care is personalised and informed by what matters to patients focusing onboth planned and unplanned care.
Delivernon-judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promotingprofessional boundaries. Playing an active part in the assessment, planning,implementation and evaluation of the patients care following our policies,procedures and always considering safeguarding.
Inspireexcellence in your colleagues by being pro-active in the management of foot,ankle and lower extremity conditions and motivating the wider team to identifypatients at high risk. You will forge strong working relationships with thePractice Plus Group healthcare team and the wider Health in Justice Service.
Promotebest practice, evidence based care and continuous quality improvement embeddinga culture of reflection and shared learning.
Shareknowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care supporting your clinicaland non-clinical colleagues to do a great job.
Beresponsible for your own caseload and waiting list and be able to work as anautonomous practitioner.
Person SpecificationQualificationsHCPC registered with post registration experience assessing and treating MSK conditions in an outpatient settingDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
