Uppingham School is looking for an experienced technician to provide key technical and administrative support to our science departments, with a particular focus on Physics.
A variety of soft skills and experience may be required for the following role Please ensure you check the overview below carefully.
As an integral member of our Science Department Technical team, you will work closely with teachers and the rest of the team to ensure that experimental work forms a key and central part of our pupils science education.
Your key responsibilities will include: Preparing, setting out and clearing away experiments, demonstrations and apparatus Washing up glassware and cleaning apparatus Assembling, making and repairing equipment Servicing the laboratories and other practical areas in the department, maintaining class sets of equipment and undertaking stock keeping With a demonstrable knowledge of safe working practices within a laboratory, you will undertake your duties in accordance with safety procedures and relevant guides.
You will possess previous experience of working in a science laboratory and will demonstrate knowledge of working in a science-based environment.
You will also possess strong organisational, communication and team-working skills, along with the ability to respond to technical needs, ensuring that all teaching requirements are met.
