School Cook and Kitchen Manager Grade: Scale Point 11-17 Salary: £27,269 - £30,060 pro rata Weeks: Term Time Only Hours: 32.5 hours per week 7am to 1.45pm Monday to Friday Job Location: Teesville Academy part of IRIS Learning Trust Responsible to: Headteachers Responsible for: Kitchen Assistants Purpose of Job: To ensure the provision of school meals is provided to pupils whilst ensuring current quality standards are met.
Principle Responsibilities To manage all relevant personnel in the school and welfare catering operation.
Overall responsibility for all relevant administration, purchasing, stock control, staff rotas and budget responsibility in accordance with school procedures and standing orders.
To prepare and produce food and beverage in line with pupils requirements and legislation.
To pro- actively work in partnership to promote healthy eating and sales.
To ensure that the correct procedures are followed in relation to health and safety requirements and financial records.
Main Duties To prepare and produce a choice of meal to the agreed standards, of pupil requirements and legislation To ensure good kitchen practices and cooking methods are observed To maintain a high standard of personal and kitchen hygiene Responsible for the management, motivation, performance and development and discipline of relevant employees, in accordance with the Trust policies and procedures Complete induction training with relevant staff, identification and delivery of on-site training Complete and comply with all administration processes, maintain training, cleaning and financial records and ensure compliance with procedures.
Ensure all defects in plant and equipment are reported and recorded in accordance with procedures Plan the menu choice to achieve the required financial targets in consultation with the Facilities Manager giving due regard to customer demand, quality and portion control Complete an accurate and timely stocktake and provide the Facilities Manager with regular trading information to an agreed timescale.
Maintain good communication links and working relationships with all staff and pupils Ensure that the Trust policies and legislation are implemented with regard to menu choice, selection and meal provided to pupils Actively promote meal up take through the preparation, production and presentation of all foods to the highest standard Ensure that the outlet complies with current Quality Standard in accordance with the Catering Services Operational Processes Manual The post holder must wear the appropriate uniform as provided and where applicable The post holder must promote and safeguard the welfare of the children and young people that they are responsible for or come into contact with.
The post holder must act in compliance with data protection principles in respecting the privacy of personal information held by the Trust.
The post holder must comply with the principles of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 in relation to the management of Trust records and information.
The post holder must carry out their duties with full regard to the Trusts Equal Opportunities Policy, Code of Conduct, Child Protection Policy and all other Trust Policies.
The postholder must comply with the Trusts Health and safety rules and regulations and with Health and Safety legislation.
