Job summary To plan, review and develop efficient and effective timetables and schedules, that meet the requirements of the franchise and meet service delivery requirements, taking into account safety, reliability, acceptability and cost.
To liaise and negotiate with Depot Management Teams, Depot Trades Union concerning the implementation of the timetables and schedules.
Main Responsibilities Timetable and schedules ownership To compile and implement timetables and driver / vehicle schedules that meet the requirements of the franchise agreement and the businesses requirements.
Ensure that deadlines for producing timetables and driver / vehicle schedules are met.
To work with the Service Delivery Team and Depot Management Team to introduce temporary schedules to minimise delays through long-term disruption such as road works.
To provide information / data regarding schedules as required including reporting on service change impacts to internal and external partners.
Preparing and dispatching Schedules / Duty Cards, both paper-based and electronic.
Efficiency and continuous improvement To constantly strive to improve driver / vehicle schedule efficiency and service punctuality.
To work with the Service Delivery team and Depot management to improve the service provide to passengers through improved reliability and maximising bonuses through the bonus regime.
Local and franchised agreement and legislation knowledge To maintain a full knowledge of current Operating and Scheduling Agreements.
To maintain a full knowledge of the franchise requirements relating to timetables to be operated and the performance regime.
To maintain a full knowledge of the Domestic Drivers Hours regulations (where different from the Company Scheduling Agreement) and European Drivers Hours Regulations.
Technology To maintain a full knowledge of the computer-based schedules system used by the Company, and to be able to assist other members of the Team when necessary.
Other Duties To maintain a full knowledge of the Company's operating area, particularly with regard to Depots and relief point locations.
Carry out various ad hoc tasks and additional duties as required by Senior Managers/Directors and where necessary provide cover for other Schedules Compilers/ Schedulers in the event of sickness, absence and holidays.
Essential Criteria Experience of using computer-based scheduling software.
Understanding of financial and costing procedures.
Knowledge of the Domestic Driving Hours Regulations.
Desirable Criteria Comprehensive geographical knowledge of Greater Manchester, especially Metroline's operating area and depot locations (desirable).
Understanding of franchise and.
An understanding/appreciation of the franchise environments requirements, contractual procedures and obligations and the management of day-to-day operational issues.
Experience of Hastus Scheduling software (desirable).

Hours of work Basic 38 hours per week.
