With over 100 years of service, the business has built strong relationships with many of the UK's leading home furnishing retailers, independents, mail order and e-commerce companies, working with them to create and deliver market leading designs that go on to become best-selling collections.With a passion for design, a focus on innovation and commitment to providing high quality products, UW Home has set the standard in readymade curtains, bedding, cushions, accessories and kitchen textiles in the home furnishings market.Job Overview:We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Sample Room Sewing Machinist who will be required to use your skills and experience of sewing to produce bedding, curtains and soft furnishing accessories for use within our customer showrooms and for photography shoots.Key Responsibilities:Sample Production; Operate and maintain a variety of industrial sewing machines (e.g., Flat bed and overlock.Ensure samples meet design, fit, and quality expectations for use within our customer showrooms and for photography shootsTo cut and re-stitch existing products where alterations are requested.
Technical Skills; Perform intricate sewing tasks such as seam finishes, topstitching, and decorative details.Work with various fabrics, including delicate, stretch, and heavyweight materials.Identify and address potential construction issues to improve production efficiency.
Collaboration; Work closely with designers and product developers to achieve desired outcomes.Provide feedback on design feasibility and suggest improvements where necessary.
Maintenance; Maintain sewing equipment to ensure optimal functionality.Keep the sample room clean, organised, and safe.
Quality Control; Inspect completed samples for accuracy, durability, and adherence to specifications.Document and report any inconsistencies or issues.
