As a newly qualified GP within 2 years of qualification, you will undertake a variety of duties governed by the GMS contract to include:
In person consultationsTelephone consultationsVisiting patients at home and in nursing homesChecking and signing repeat prescriptionsDealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence as requiredAll aspects of clinical administrationMain duties of the jobTake accountability for the highest standards andprofessional decision making in relation to presenting problems, whetherself-referred or referred from other health care workers across the practice /PCN.
Screen patients for disease risk factors and earlysigns of illness
Cover all the clinical management of the patients insurgery as appropriate including initiating investigations, reviewing results,making referrals to secondary care or to other providers as appropriate
Develop care and treatment plans in consultationwith patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols aswell wider guidance such as that from NICE
Ensure appropriate follow up of patients
Record clear and immediate consultation notes toagreed standards within clinical systems
Actively participate in clinical audits, learningevents and practice meetings, within a culture of continuous improvement
Compile and issue computer-generated acute andrepeat prescriptions avoiding hand-written prescriptions.
Prescribe generically whenever appropriately and inaccordance with the Practice prescribing formulary, NICE guidance and GoodPrescribing Practice (as defined by British National Formulary guidance)
Work with and provide support for other members ofthe primary health care team & Federation
Play a lead role in the practice achieving agreedand other key performance indicator targets as shaped by the Clinical Directorand Federation team.
