Job summary We have an exciting opportunity for 2 newlyqualified GP's to join Moseley, Billesley & Yardley Wood (MOBY) PCN on a part time basis.Each role will be for sessions ( hours / WTE) per week and will be split across 2 practices within the PCN.The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and forward-thinking Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).
Leadership and supervision will be provided by the PCN Clinical Director and you will have opportunities to attend team meetings and access peer support across the PCN.The role is initially offered on a fixed term contract basis until 31/03/2025 however this may be extended and will be reviewed ahead of the end date.Interview dates: Tues 4th February 2025 & Thurs 6th February 2025 Main duties of the job The post-holder will manage a caseload and dealwith a wide range of health needs, ensuring thehighest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.Thiswill include, but is not limited to, surgery and telephone consultations, home visits, administration, complying with the practices contracts (GMS/PMS/enhancedservices/DES).
About us You will be employed on behalf of the PCN by OurHealth Partnership (OHP).OHP was set up by local GPs who are passionate about providing highquality primary care and using their time and skills effectively to benefitpatients..We are currently a GPpartnership of 30 practices with 38 surgeries,serving around 280,000 patients in Birmingham,Wolverhampton, and Shropshire.Our head office is based in Cotteridge, but this role will be based across practices as listed above Job description Job responsibilities Main Duties & ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holderwill be available to undertake a variety of duties including surgeryconsultations, telephone consultations, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeatprescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondencein a timely fashionTriage patients presenting to the surgery by telephone, online and inpersonMaking professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presentingproblems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workerswithin the organisationAssessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated andundiagnosed problemsScreening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illnessIn consultation with patients and in line with current Practice diseasemanagement protocols, developing care plans for health and promoting healthylifestyle strategies and educationManage long-term conditions and patients with complex problemsRecording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreedstandardsCollecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirementsDelivering enhanced servicesCheck, manage & process patient test resultsRefer patients to secondary care and/or relevant organisations andinternally within the PCN (eg to additional roles members of the PCN team) asrequiredCompiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions(avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible) in line with local andnational guidelinesPrescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (orgenerically) whenever this is clinically appropriateIn general the post-holder will be expected to undertake the duties andresponsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care in a surgeryon a PCN basisOther Responsibilities within the Organisation: Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practicepolicies/guidelines, prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, healthand safetyA commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-basedbest practiceContributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting withinthe organisationContributing to the summarising of patient records and read-codingpatient dataAttending training and events organised by the Practice or otheragencies, where appropriate and suitable and relevant for your roleKeep up to date with current evidenced based approaches to patient careand service delivery, in line with NICE and national frameworksContribute to education and training of trainee members of staff andstudentsAttending and contributing to practice and PCN meetingsPlease see attached job description/person specification for full details.
Person Specification Experience Essential Experience of primary care through the GP Vocational Training Scheme Qualifications Essential MBBS or equivalent medical degree Full registration with GMC Certification of Completion of Training (JCPTGP/PMETB) Inclusion on Performers List Evidence of a commitment to on-going personal & professional development Knowledge & Understanding Essential Understanding of General Practice Services Understanding of Primary Care Networks and how they work Desirable Understanding the role of medical services in a wider public health agenda Knowledge of the demographic characteristics that affect health and health care in the area including health inequalities Understanding current NHS policies Personal Skills & Qualities Essential Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both written and verbally Excellent organisational skills Excellent record keeping Time management skills Able to work calmly under pressure Ability to work on own initiative IT skills (including word processing and database work) Committed to quality and patient satisfaction Committed to equal opportunities Team worker Flexibility & adaptability Desirable Ability to bring fresh ideas Other Essential Committed to working as part of a multidisciplinary, multi-agency primary care team Openness to explore alternative working practices Not previously been substantively employed at a GP Practice
