We currently have a vacancy for a salaried General Practitioner up to 6 sessions per week on a Fixed Term Contract (FTC) for 3 months, starting either December 2024 or January 2025.
To be eligible for this role, you must be within two years of certificate of completion of training at the start date of employment, i.e.
completed prior to October 2022.
We can offer: Sessional rate of £10,500 Medical Indemnity costs covered 6 sessions per week (days to be agreed) 30 days annual leave + bank holidays + 37.5 hours study leave (Pro rata) BMA model contract Main duties of the job Respond to medical problems presented by patients, including triage, history taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and referral.
Consultations will be undertaken in a variety of forms, i.e.
face-to-face, online, telephone, digital.
Adhering to the practice, local and national prescribing formulary.
Checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
Attending education meetings held on days when you are working.
Contributing to the development of and adhering to protocols/systems for the management of common medical conditions.
Participating in clinical governance activity and contributing to the improvement in quality of health outcomes through the practice's audit programme.
Clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties necessary for the delivery of GMS.
Participating in the training and development of medical students and GP registrars in the practice.
In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
About us Practice Profile: The successful candidate will join our existing practice clinical team of 3 Partners, 3 salaried GPs, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 2 Practice Nurses, 2 Health Care Assistants, a Practice Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician.
In addition to our practice clinical team, we also work as part of the wider Primary Care Network and have support from FCP Paramedics, FCP Physios, Care Home Team and PCN Pharmacy Team.
We are also supported by a well-established and highly functioning management and support service team.

Job responsibilities The post-holder will manage and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
Clinical responsibilities: In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including face-to-face, digital, online and telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
Providing counselling and health education.
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Other responsibilities within the organisation: Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g.
prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.
A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.
Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
In addition to maintaining continued education through attendance at any courses and/or study days necessary to ensure that professional development requirements are met, the post-holder will participate in any training programme implemented by the practice as part of this employment, with such training to include: Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development.
Taking responsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work.
Quality: The post-holder will strive to maintain quality within the practice, and will: Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk.

Participate in audit where appropriate.
Participate in practice meetings.
Person SpecificationExperience Newly qualified GP (less than 2 years of certificate).
General understanding of the primary care contract.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to work in a changing environment.
Ability to work under pressure.
EMIS clinical system.
Qualifications MRCGP Qualification.
Full registration with the General Medical Council.
Membership of a recognised medical defence organisation.
Registration on the Primary Medical Service Performers List.
