Job summary Cumbria Health is seeking a dedicated Safeguarding Coordinator to join our team, based at our Head Office on Wavell Drive, Carlisle.This is a part-time role offering to 11 hours per week.
Travel to various locations across Cumbria will be required.In this role, you will play a key part in raising the profile of safeguarding, identifying risks, and providing essential education to our staff teams.
Working within a multiagency context, you will support our safeguarding commitment by fostering collaboration across services and departments.We are looking for someone with a strong knowledge and understanding of multiagency safeguarding practices.

Main duties of the job To work with the existing Safeguarding Coordinator and Officer to ensure the highest standards of safeguarding practice are in place within CH.
To coordinate safeguarding procedures and policies to the CH workforce, raising the profile of safeguarding across the organisation To provide line management guidance and support to the Safeguarding officer.
To provide expert safeguarding advice to clinicians, recognising risk and providing a proportionate response.
To provide safeguarding education to CH workforce to increase their knowledge and understanding on how to recognise and manage safeguarding cases.
In relation to serious case reviews collaborate with Cumbria Safeguarding Children Partnership and Cumbria Safeguarding Adults Board and Designated and Named Professionals within Cumbria to ensure that the recommendations of all reviews are incorporated in policy and practice as necessary.

To fulfil the role of Safeguarding Coordinator for Cumbria Health.
Provide professional advice and guidance to all Cumbria Healthemployees.
Ensure all Cumbria Health staff have access to safeguarding training andsupervision appropriate to their role.
Advise and inform the Executives, Senior Managers and Practitionersregarding safeguarding issues.
Promote multidisciplinary/multi agency working and advice to othernon-medical health professionals.
Provide balanced advice and support on all aspects of safeguarding to CH employees where matters are highly complex and in difficult, sensitive and emotive situations.
Provide constructive feedback & challenge where required to Ch staff to aid education and awareness in safeguarding cases Support safeguarding practice leads to fulfil their role and provide expertise in difficult & complex safeguarding cases Proactively look for ways to improve safeguarding practice as an organisation and in individuals.
Share learning from CH and national cases.
Facilitate case discussion to aid learning across teams.
Provide monthly CH newsletter safeguarding articles, promoting local and national safeguarding priorities Keep the safeguarding staff web page current with Safeguarding guidance To have the ability to write an independent management plan as a result of a serious case review.
To work collaboratively with the designated professionals from relevant agencies.
To ensure that robust systems are in place to ensure effective, timely communication between staff within CH as well as other health providers locally, regionally and nationally with regard to sharing information to safeguard.
Attend safeguarding conferences, core groups and other meetings for the purpose of safeguarding.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential NMC Registration Safeguarding role and cross organisational experience Single and multi-agency training in safeguarding.
Knowledge & understanding of safeguarding practice & safeguarding multiagency working In depth and up to date knowledge of safeguarding legislation High level understanding of agencies involved in services for adults and children.
Desirable Relevant Masters or BSc Leadership qualification Educational qualification Experience Essential Minimum 5-year experience post registration To have experience in effective multi-agency and partnership working Experience of safeguarding supervision with staff Urgent and / or Primary care experience Desirable Training in, and experience of clinical supervision of staff Experience in preparing reports and statements for the purpose of safeguarding.
