Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small, friendly Endoscpy Team at The Grange Medical Centre.We are looking for a full time/part time Lead Endoscopy Nurse.The service runs over seven days per week and occasional weekend work will be included.We are a JAG accredited unit, just recently completing our 5 year re-accreditation, and we are looking to directly employ a Lead Endoscopy Nurse to work within the unit and support the ongoing JAG accreditation.
Main duties of the job To provide and maintain a high standard of evidence-based, patient-centered care for our Endoscopy Service.To demonstrate good interpersonal skills and to develop practical skills required within the speciality, whist reflecting our philosophy of care.To deliver a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care, utilising the systems in place within the department, and building on our philosophy of patient involvment.To support our small team of Healthcare Support Workers in triaging patients prior to their procedure(s).To support the Secondary Care Manager in reviewing SOPs, policies and procedures.To support the Secondary Care Manager in conducting staff appraisals.To keep updated with the BSG guidelines.To work in line with the polices and procedures already in place with the service.

Job description Job responsibilities To perform as the Lead Nurse within the Endoscopy Unit, providing support and advice to both clinical (directly employed and agency) and administrative members of staff.To be able to work confidently and competently, both as a team and independently, in all areas of Endosocpy - Admittance, Procedure Room and DischargeTo support the Healthcare Support Workers in ensuring that all patients are effectively triaged prior to their procedure(s) and to provide appropriate medical advice as required.To work effectively as part of a small, friendly team carrying out endoscopy procedures within the unit.To assist the Secondary Care Manager in the development and updating of SOPs,policies and proceduresTo support the Secondary Care Manager in carrying out annual appraisals for healthcare support worker staffTo keep up to date with BSG GuidelinesTo provide clinical input and support with JAG assessments, re-accreditations and procurement bids Person Specification Qualifications Essential Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner NMC/HCPC Registered Professional Registration/Qualification Desirable Recent experience of working in an endoscopy setting Experience Essential Competent IT user Effective written and verbal communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills.
Works well within a team Able to supervise and mentor staff Confident in using own initiative to make decisions Able to demonstrate excellent clinical skills Able to priorise patient-centred care Time management Ability to plan, organise and prioritse a demanding workload Ability to produce clear, accurate and timely documentation Flexibility to cover the requirments of the service Desirable JAG experience Knowledge of SystmOne Knowledge of Clinical pre-operative triaging Writing policies, procedures and SOPs Experience Essential Experience and knowledge of endoscopy services to include gastroscopy, colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy.
Desirable Experience and knowledge of JAG accreditation
